You watch, now we're heading for the big time they'll all come out of the woodwork - with highly suspicious excuses why they weren't able to get a season ticket over the last few years and that they were going to no matter what this season! The takeover was never going to be an influence on their decission. Hate fans like this. In other news I got a tax rebate - £400, trying to think of what to do with it - now I can afford to get a season ticket I might see if my old seat is still available. That's all.
The only way to separate the Johnny-come-lately's from the loyal fans is to have the names of all current board members subtly printed into the new shirts, if you ask me! Something like this - http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/oddballs/902284-parma-sew-names-of-season-ticket-holders-into-new-shirt
I tweeted the club about this a few weeks ago without a reply.... But I have to say I hadn't thought about the glory hunters :dismay:
Glory hunting Watford fans....theres no such thing. If you mean there's gonna be increased crowds then I say welcome to the Vic lets hope you become more regular fans. Lets get rid of the small town club mentality that has handicapped the club recently.
We just need a little more balance of viewpoints here ..... Seriously I've had some problems in the last few years and the cheque did come through today - it's just a co-incidence it's the same day the deal was done.
I wasn't going to bother renewing for the new season as my drinking / football buddy has bailed out due to having to work more weekends - so we had agreed to just do away games. Due to the takeover, I may well reconsider. Does this make me a glory hunter?
Haha this thread made me laugh. The fact is that the glory hunting scum make up a proportion of every football club. Not everyone is like the majority of us on this forum, who will always follow Watford.
At the start of GT's first season we were getting crowds of what, 6,000? 7,000? At the end of it attendances were closer to 20,000. There will be at least half a dozen people on this very forum who went to two or three games at the end of that season for one reason or another. Three or four of them probably still go today. Me? I grew up in the 90s, and by right the club should be giving me three or four free season tickets to make up for some of the dross I was forced to put up with during my primary school years. Truth be told it's a miracle I kept going. But my point is that it doesn't matter why people started coming, or start coming in the future. What's important is that we do what we can to keep them hooked.
Funnily enough as I work Saturdays, I had to give up my season ticket 3 years ago. Starting from March 2013 I won't be working on a weekend/will be able to go early so I was planning on getting my ticket back for next year. Hopefully just in time for the Premier League
I do wonder if there will be an increase in season tickets being brought over the next week or two due to the takeover and optimism. I for one hope so as it may also help to push the issue for building the new Graham Taylor stand (will they still call it that as it was BBB's idea? He may sue them if they do:naughty
