Aintree starts on Thursday for 3 days.

Who would be interested in a daily competition and festival competition?

Any ideas how we should work it?

"Each player will select one horse from each race of the 7 race cards covering the 3 days.

No points will be awarded if your selection fails to complete the race.


Any editing to selections will be accepted up until 5 minutes before the start of each days racing and then the thread will be locked."

Maybe you could give a £5 free bet after each day rather than £15 for the overall winner?

That's an excellent idea IMO.

 

The major problem with UHORNS suggestion is that it does not reward high priced winners or places. Look back here a little later and the competition will be up in some form or another.

Admin has donated a £15 free bet prize and this will be for the winner of the festival over the 3 days.

I will donate a daily £10 free bet to the winner that will have to be staked with Betfair by me.

 

AINTREE COMPETITION

In fact there will be two competitions.

Admin’s Festival Competition
This will be judged over the three days of the Aintree Festival and there will be one prize of a £15 free bet. By popular request this will be as per UHORNS suggestion. Choose one horse per race.

Please keep track of your own score and if you think you have won your total will be verified by Berko at the end of Saturday.

Each player will select one horse from each race of the 7 race cards covering the 3 days.

The number of points you gain will depend on where your horse finishes in the race, for example if it is a 20 runner race and your horse wins you will receive 20 points, if it finishes 2nd 19 points and so on down to last place.

No points will be awarded if your selection fails to complete the race. Non-runner and your selection will default to the favourite (if joint favourites it will be the horse that comes first in the alphabet.

Berko’s Daily Punter Challenge
Each day you start with a wallet of £100 and you may stake this exactly as you wish (it is not necessary to stake it all). For instance you may wish to bet in every race or just one £100 bet or even no bets at all.

Singles only, each way allowed.

Places will be calculated at a standard rate of 1/5th of the odds irrespective of field size, type of race.

Non-runner equals no bet on that horse. No substitution made.

More than one horse per race allowed.

All prices will have to be SP, we have no way of easily verifying other prices taken (ante-post).

Daily Prize £10 free bet that will have to be made through Berko using Betfair.

Winner will be the person with the most left in their wallet.

Please calculate the value of your wallet at the end of each day and post.

Berko will check the value of the winner’s wallet to verify.

ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE POST ASAP. THESE COMPETITIONS ARE A TRIAL AND NOT EVERY EVENTUALLY WILL HAVE BEEN COVERED SO PLEASE TREAT THEM IN THE SPIRIT IN WHICH THEY ARE INTENDED – SHARING TIPS, VIEWS AND A BIT OF FUN.

In both competitions Berko will be the sole arbiter and his decision is final, correct or not.
