Just how much have they cost the club? There have been quite a few, too many for me to remember. Therefore I'll start a list, and I'm sure I can rely on you guys to fill in the gaps!!! Aloi, Rinaldi, Ellington, Kabba, Cavali, He came from sunny Spain he never got a game, also the Aussie centre back, was he called Roberts? There is my starter list, as you can see some of them made such an impact I can't even remember their names I've not even mentioned some of the players he let go such as Carlisle for instance. I know there are many more follies, so over to you guys!!! I've just remembered, "He came from sunny Spain he never got a game, SIETES" :]]
Ellington ion for 3.25 out for 2million Kabba in for 500k but could be back all the others cost and went for nothing so far 1.25 million
Aloi was only wages, you mean Griffiths I believe? I think it is important to look at the value and profit he's got out of players though too. Example Young weren't worth 9.75 million when he came. King went for 6 times his value, Bouazza wasn't worth 2-3 mill before Aidy came, Hendo went for I think 4 times his amount, i'm sure this covers the cost of his flops as apart from Nelly (2 mill recovered already for him) none of them were expensive.
I think not my friend, WAGES!!! Even if the ones I have listed were only on £1000.00 a week, which I'm sure they were not, we are talking in the region of £350,000 a year!!! Plus how do you know there were no fees involved, because I don't?
I thought derby took ellington on loan for 2mil with an option to buy at the end of the season for a small fee? If thats the case then we could be getting ellington back, especially since hes carried on there how he left off at watford. If where talking about transfers that havent worked out then you can add jackson, junior, collins john & davenport (through no fault of aidys). I know that collins john was a loan but we still paid a fee for him.
I dont think he was on trial, not to sure now. I thought he was a free transfer that fell apart because of his permit. But you have reminded me of someone else to add to the list... martin devaney
Cullip was signed by the guy who took over after Lewington got sacked - and part of the deal in selling Webber. Aidy actually decided not to sign him, even though people (including myself) felt he'd improved the defence - obviously C.C was a better buy though. Fletcher, Trevor Benjamin and Agbonalahor were early loans though... Two of his follies his 'buy one get one free' with Hoskins and Williamson are now looking like bargains - his problem isn't so much the amount of players he signs, but the fact he plays them once, they don't do well straight away so don't get another match...
Negative ar5e thread. It was his first season in management! We have several players who went for HUGE multiples of their value when bought - Ash was ALL profit too. He is still learning every farking week because every week virtually is a situation he has never been in before! Chris Powell played the majority of games that season anyway, so he isn't a folly, just old. We will be right up there come the end of the season, I have full faith on that. There aren't many teams out there who could handle 13 or 14 FIRST TEAM injuries, so you end up playing a squad in the 9th game which has only a handful of players starting the first! He has bought one hell of a lot of duds, but mixed in the with them have been players who have got us promoted and players who have played the best in their career and been sold for mahussive profit. The buck stops with the board allowing him to buy TOO MANY players, not the other way round.
If you look at Aidy's record in the transfer market he has clearly cost the club absolutely nothing at all and only swelled our coffers during his time. Even without knowing wages it's obvious that the money issues are the boards fault and not Aidy's. His transfer record by numbers is - (all excluding wages) Perm Signings Total spent on signing fees = £12'025'000 Total recouped = £23'350'000 Loans IN - 13 loan deals totalling 45 months (including 3 current deals) OUT - 42 loan deals totalling 113 months (including 3 current deals). As far as I can see you don't need to know wages to see that Aidy can't possibly have spent more than he's recouped. Obviously a lot of our loaned out players would be on low wages and some of the incoming loans will be on high wages due to youth players going out etc. But all the outgoing signings would have to be well below half the incoming players in order for this to be a massive margin. Couple that with a player profit of over £11 Million, promotion, parachute cash and a semi final and I find it very hard to understand how anyone can say that Aidy has cost the club anything at all. Soccerbase is handy for appearance stats etc but they know no more about fees than the next media guess source. And I don't think you can say he has cost us nothing. Although I'm happy to admit that the vast majority of the dosh that has long since walked out of the door wouldn't have come in anyway but for him, the fact is he's still cost us it. Last season in particular saw him given a vast amount of money that in all liklihood no other manager would have been given at this club after relegation.
