    Hi everyone,

I hope your bosses gave you all a lie-in this yesterday morning after the late night at the Vic on Tuesday.

I was pleased with the win over Darlington, and although I would have been happier to have seen out the tie in the normal 90 minutes, you have to take into account the relative age and experience of the side that played.

By the time we ended the match we had a side whose average age was just 21 and showed four teenagers in it!

All credit to the boys too. I thought Liam Henderson was terrific when he came on, working really hard for the cause, while Lewis Young and Ross Jenkins will both continue their development in the right way with performances like that.

We’ve started the season brightly, winning more than we’ve lost, but I was nonetheless a little disappointed with the way we conceded our goals at the weekend at Nottingham Forest.

We’ve already shown ourselves that by keeping clean sheets we can make life easier for ourselves and I felt we let Forest off the hook a little at the weekend. As I said then, if you score two goals away from home you’ve got to be expecting to get something from the game.

That’s something we’ll be mindful of when we take on Ipswich Town this Saturday, who’ve started this season the opposite way to last in the league – winning their away games and losing their home ones instead!

After we took their unbeaten home record last season they’ll be out for a little revenge this week I’m sure. They’ve spent a lot this summer, with their new owners investing heavily, and that’ll bring expectation to their shoulders too, so it’ll be really interesting to see how both sides cope in what will be another typically tight Championship game.

The transfer window closes on Monday evening, a day late because of the weekend getting in the way, and although you can never say never in this game, I’m not expectant that things will necessarily happen on that front.

What is certain is that I’m happy with the group of players and characters that I’ve got to work with here, and if we can keep everybody fit for the season then what we lack in numbers and depth we can make up for in character.

We’ve already shown that we are capable of results against some good sides in the league. We’ll just be looking to concentrate on that with the players again this weekend; hoping for the right result at the end of it.

Hopefully too, we’ll get a big Carling Cup tie away at Arsenal or United or the likes, and we can go and pit our wits against the best once more. Have a great week and see you Saturday!

    Come on

When he wrote this, did he know Rasiak was was injured? If he did then it was a stupid thing to say...if not how ironic :dismay:

Aidy has said that every full seson he has been in charge -

Willo throws a tantrum at Florist, Hoskins storms away from th ground ( refer to thread,) Rasiak and muff injured and now we will need to perhaps rely on the young kids who have a whopping 6 games under their belts at most - between them.

Certainly is exciting though and if AB is being honest about the squads character - they will need to prove that for him by giving 100% effort every game even when they are knackered, worn out and totally demoralised by listening to the boo's from the wfc unfaithful belowwing around the ground.

    Quite right

The lack of 100% effort last year lead to a rightful chorus of Booo's. Lets hope they have learnt from that.

We all know that we are going to lose games, probably more than we win this year, but there is no excuse for lack of effort.

Lets face it if it was just about ability then Prikin and McNuff would be crowd favorates, if it was about effort then Lloyd would be playing for Arsenal but its a combination of both that makes a player.

Why is he asking if you had a lie in after your league cup game?

Is it because it went on past your bed times?

There was barely anyone there anyway. :]]
