http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp....var.1961685.0.no_signings_on_the_horizon.php Not good because its clear we need new players but have the board lost faith in him with regard to money? Ellington and McAnuff cost a fair bit in terms of fees and we have other players on big wages I understand round the 15-20k mark which is a lot for our club even if its the norm thesedays. As I said after the very little success of Aidy's recent signings do the board trust him enough to spend money?
For ****s sake. This team is barely good enough for League ****ing One due to their enormous egos making them slip down the tables. ****s sake.
didn't he say he's 'got two in the pipeline' or something similar on the radio? If we could add a couple of good quality players in that would be ok, then we just need a big review of the tactics, i can't understand how after a game like norwich for example the players & coaches don't think to themselves that they play better when they look for quick, early only the ground passes, instead of coming out the next game, getting the ball and straight away looking for a long ball.
I don't know if he said that, but in his quotes in the article there is nothing which appears to justify the headline 'no signings on the horizon'!!!! Aidy really doesn't say that! It just looks like the WO trying to ****-stir again.
Maybe the headline is a little mis-leading(as always with most papers) but he does say "It's only a couple we need - it's not going to be wholesale changes"
To be honest he doesn't deserve any money to spend after he wasted £4,000,000 on a player who doesn't even get a consecutive run of games! Imagine how Ellington must be feeling! You're 3-2 down at Barnsley and 1-0 down at PNE...he isn't called upon by Aidy to come off the bench in either game to try and rescue it for us! How can he prove himself to us when he never gets 6-7 games on the spin to get his sharpness and match fitness? It's nearly as bad as last season when he brought on Shittu upfront over Priskin at home to Sheffield Utd! Embarrasing...Aidy made some excellent signings in his first summer in charge, but since then his record in the market has been very hit and miss!
I think Aidy's comments in this article was very encouraging. It seems he's realised that buying a lot of cr4p just for the sake of buying is futile. Last January he brought eight players who did nothing but strengthen the reserves. "I have learnt my lessons from the past and I'm going to be very cautious and very calm. If I bring someone in it will be to improve the team. Those that I am after are wanted by a lot of other teams, too. It's only a couple we need - it's not going to be wholesale changes." Which is absolutely right. If we can get in a quality holding midfielder and a left back, great. If we can get a good center back on loan, great. If we can't make these signings, it's a shame, but it's better to do nothing than to go bonanza and bring in 8 players with the quality of Will Hoskins and Steven Kabba.
