If we win against Bournemouth that would be an absolutely fantastic month for us, however you can bet your bottom dollar Mick McCarthy will be MOTM
Well it certainly didn't work out well for the last manager we had to win it! The reaction would be quite contrasting though if Munoz did win. He'd be smiling and grinning from ear to ear!
Munoz could proudly stick the award next to his certificate for whatever the Spanish equivalent of a GNVQ in leisure and tourism is.
Score draw and it wouldn’t be the worst result. As for motm mick deserves it even if we win at muff. But I’d love for gosling to win a 95th min penalty for an undeserved 1-0 win. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With the way they were free scoring and hardly losing a game until just over two months ago I would've never envisaged that Cardiff would be the one to pip them for a play-off place on goals scored - funny game football. Let's hope we can pile on their misery and continue our very un-Watfordy way of continuing teams' bad runs.
How do they decide MotM? Is it simply who gets the best set of results? Strange that no one bettered Ivic's decent but unspectacular November record of P5 W3 D2 (although we did score a lot of goals for him!) and I imagine several teams played better than us that month.
The others were Norwich City's Daniel Farke, Dean Holden of Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray. Norwich - Won 3 and drew 2 but those were at home to Coventry and Millwall so probably seen as disappointing results. Bristol City - Won 3, drew 1 (v us...goodness me that was dull!), and lost to Reading. Blackburn - Won 3 and drew 2 - at them lot and v Boro. So probably did just come down to us scoring goals with 2 of the wins late on and the other by 3 goals which looked impressive. TBH I think we could have gone on a run like we have now and Ivic might have gone anyway given what we know/heard.
Are Johnny Foreigners (inc ROI) still allowed to win it after brexit ? Surely it should go to Pulis or Monk or another dyed-in-the-wool Brit?
I see your Health and Safety Hazards Form has not considered the possibility of Martians landing on the centre circle at half-time.
One of the best laughs I had at the time was observing Ivic's scowling face on the pic of him with that retched trophy. Since then I've thought he already knew he was threatened with the chop. But...nah it was just him.
And whatever the Spanish equivalent of winning the premier league is, I think it's called 'la liga' or something like that (plus UEFA cup, UEFA super cup, promotion with Levante and winning the league as a player and manager with Dinamo Tblisi plus having the best win % of any Watford manager)
He would've done against Cardiff, Huddersfield or Norwich. Muff's defence was a bit too good for him.
5th game in 2 weeks, hope the medical team get this one right. I'd consider resting Sarr and Cleverley for this one but I'm pretty sure they'll both start. Anything can happen against Muff but usually it ends in a draw. Would love to hammer these subbuteo stadium dwelling lower league charlatans tomorrow though!
Probably but his final lot of games after winning MotM would’ve given any manager the sack at many other clubs pushing for promotion - we only scored two goals in open play and there must have been some people at the club who at least scan this forum, the club Twitter, Observer etc and got a good idea of how disgruntled much of the fanbase was with the performances and severe lack of entertainment.
I'd consider playing the strongest team available to bring home THREE POINTS! against Wycombe possibly changes!
I can list quite a few players who have won major leagues over the years (about 25+ in every team in every season in every major league) it’s not a precursor to being a good or qualified manager.
I bought Watford's 3 points at Blackburn. Backed Blackburn to win and the draw to ensure a Watford win. Can't afford to do the same this Saturday so sorry it will probably be a Bournemouth win unfortunately.
I know how you feel - every Hive match I've bought we've been shyte and lost. Do I spend £10 to ensure I keep up this 'lucky' streak tomorrow?
I think the word ‘rotation’ strikes fear into us all due to how it was used in the first half of the season. Major and most obvious example - Pedro plays, scores, motm etc and then rotated for Gray. But it’s fairly obvious that there has to be some sensible rotating. It would be fairly catastrophic if Sarr were to get injured for the rest of the season. The same could be said for Hughes and Pedro and to a lesser extent a couple of others. Having Sarr on the bench this game, although it weakens us for this game, could also help us long term. Of course what I really want is to have him play and get through unscathed and have this continue until we have won the league! Anyway, it’s so nice to be more than 24 hours away from the game and already being excited to watch it!
Bmth are the flip version of us. They started well under Tindall until the wheels came off. Brooks was top drawer last year but mostly injured now, they no longer have the danger men like Wilson and Ritchie, and replacements have been average. Wiltshire a gamble but he's only good if playing in a good side. A bit like us they tend to struggle defensively and the loss of Ake was huge, so once they they stopped being able to control the pace of games their confidence went down. Us and Bmth have had to get players to learn/relearn the ways of the Championship. We've got there slowly and now have the class to see off the "battler/grinder" teams, but Bmth have dropped off and are vulnerable to the cloggers. I actually see this game as being a bit closer as we both like to play a bit but Sarr and JP should be too much for their defence. (BTW Big thumbs up to Munos last game for encouraging our players to go long more often when it's tight. It makes the oppo defences wary and keeps them from pushing higher up the pitch.)
Muff fans are not happy and the majority believe they will lose tomorrow. Looks like Brooks is out injured along with Solanke and the former scummer Stacey. From reading it seems like they've gone to a very negative style of play which is a bonus lots of slow sideways passing. Sounds familiar. So play a high press tomorrow and I'm very confident we'll win. If not a draw is not the end of the World.
