Adrian Boothroyd expects to add at least two more players to his Watford squad, while insisting the club's top players will not be sold.

The Hornets have signed Jobi McAnuff, Matt Jackson and Mart Poom this summer and more new faces are likely to arrive at Vicarage Road.

Boothroyd is still on the lookout for another striker, as well as a winger.

However, they will not be coming in to replace any of the club's "crown jewels", according to Boothroyd, who wants to build a competitive squad.

"The jigsaw is almost complete, I think we are two pieces short," said Boothroyd.

"Another centre forward who I think could get the fans very excited, and a two-footed wide player to push Hameur Bouazza, Jobi McAnuff and Tommy Smith.

"I was on the look-out for a left back to push Jordan Stewart but I have been impressed with Jordan Parkes' development and have decided to test him through pre-season.

"As far as outgoing players are concerned we have good players and have received enquiries, but we are about to embark on our Championship campaign and can assure you we will not be selling the crown jewels."

My local rag had a great story this week about a chap who was in a witness protection scheme because he'd given evidence in a robbery trial. There was photograph of him and it told you where he lived and where he worked.
