How are they decided - cause for me they are bloody strange! Debt Relief, Singles websites, Some thing with a man/female/shemale on it with a button that says 'Play', Self-Storage in Sunderland etc..... Is it done through google AdSense or something?
Yes it's Adsense. It decides on the ad by analysing the words on the page, then deciding what might best match. Sometimes it appears to make perfect sense, other times you wonder where it gets it's thinking from? There's also a search facility that can create revenue for the site and I'm wondering if that might be better on the front page rather than an ad.
like most people i'm up for a random click on the ads now and again if it creates revenue but quite frankly some of them have looked so dodgey I don't want to. AdSense is a funny thing. Local news sites seem to use it with quite hillarious consequences
You don't need to click on anything apart from something that genuinely interests you. When you find something worth clicking on then have a good look around the site you are taken to, it makes a difference.
Google aren't silly, they know when people are making random clicks and they discount them, they also know when someone is genuine.
