Nothing wrong with the manager..... not having professional coaches at the club for half a year is a bigger problem in my eyes... hope the Norwich chap proves his worth.

I don't think for one minute he is but i do think this is a massive season for him because we expect to do well. We've the money, we've the squad (i think we do need a LB though) we've the experience. We should be pushing automatic promotion or easy playoff anything less i think Aidy will have a few questions to answer. Last season he did a great job of making money and building for this season. This season he needs to do a great job of spending some of the money and getting us back in the big time and look to consolidate when we get there

Love Aidy to death, obviously best manager we've had since GT (no contest really).

I must say some of his tactical selections and player selections do puzzle me from time to time (well they did last season). His constant selection of Mahon, Carlisle and Henderson puzzles me aswell.

How anyone can rate Carlisle over Shittu IMO needs serious help.

As stated above, this season will tell alot. Even if we have a shocker of a season Aidy is still a legend in my eyes!

In Aidy I trust, and we'll finish top six this season with Bouazza or no Bouazaa.

I don't think he's a one season wonder. That first season it was all about man management and being the motivator. Now we know he can do that - but then we were underdogs. Now we'll be favourites in most matches, and how he deals with that tactically is a big part of his managerial learning curve. His abilities in the transfer market have been discussed here for a long time and while I reserve my judgement until the window is closed, I must admit that the 3 he's signed so far and the ones he's let go - he's come a long way. Still, he can't attract above our station and that's something he needs to work on.

If we are not in the top 6 come the end of the season, then he's failed. With our squad and our funds we should be able to fight for autpomatic promo.

I don't think it was a fluke but this time he has no excuses, I agree with you guys it'll probably make or break Aidy.

We should be fine (at least play-offs) but i'm an eternal optimist.

Fair to say there is pressure on him for the first time this season?

To be honest, what we want to see this season is the team of our promotion season again. Attacking teams and scoring a lot of goals. Every year it gets harder to beat the teams in this division so Aidy has a lot of work to do.

I suppose that the expectation is that we get promoted, but given Aidy's skills in the transfer market and delusion that hoofball will score enough points to stay up in the Premier League I don't want another season like the last one.

If we go out and attack teams, and take that adventurous attitude into games this year then I will be hoping we can go all the way and get promoted. So I suppose it is up to Aidy to install an attitude or ethos to our games and if I see that ethos developing into one that will make us a dangerous team then I suppose we can say "No" he is not a one season wonder. If he just goes around telling us to hoof it and hope with no real development of tactics/selection/transfers then we will know come August that he is more of a one season wonder than a messiah.

I think it is ridiculously unfair that people say he is a one season wonder.

He walked in, had sod all transfer money, sod all experience, and got a relegation-candidate club to the Premiership in a single season.

And it wasn't a fluke that we went up, like it was Derby. We went up because we were conclusively the 3rd best team in the division, as our 3-0 destructions of Palace and Leeds paid tribute too.

I don't care if we don't get promoted this year. We have a lot of new players in the squad, and it may take more time for them to gel than it did in his first season.

He may have been lucky in the first season, but even with a hugely outclassed side, up until Christmas in the Premiership we were at least giving as good as we got 90% of the time.

The man has unquestionably earned another 2 or 3 seasons in my eyes. He has already done what only one other manager has managed to do in the history of the club, so give him a break and give him a few seasons to get things together.

Poom from last nights performance can't kick it as far as Foster so we will see less of the goals like Young against QPR away or King's goal against Palace away in the playoffs.

Yes but that season the vast majority of Fosters kicks went either into the stands or more often ended up somewhere in Calais.

I agree with all of that but the highlighted part, he's only brought in 3 players this Summer, hardly a lot, don't you think?

I agree with all of that apart from I would be upset if we failed to gtet promotion!

I'm couting all of January's signing except Priskin.

Nobody else played more than 90 minutes in 4 months of being in the first team.

Please don't think I'm picking on your posts or reasoning but I feel that 8 months is a long time for these guys to gel, especially when they are training everyday, when a new person starts in your office does it take them 8 months to be invited out for a couple drinks?

I think the main concern is that with a new GK and CB it's the defensive dynamic that should be the main worry, as a defensive unit needs to work well together like a machine, particularly where the GK is concerned.

For all my criticism of the way things are, I'd be a fool to disagree with this part of your post. Whilst I may not like everything that happens with the club, I still remember that Aidy has done more for us in 2 seasons than any manager in our history bar GT. I just think that this season is going to be another learning curve for Aidy, as he realises he can't just bounce back up because he thinks he will.

Last season was the first time when he got any criticism, following a year when he walked on water. He is being brought down to earth (relegation when he predicted Europe, no players wanting to sign for us etc) and I hope this will give him the experience to take us forward again.

Do you think missing Burkinhaw has made a difference?

i think he actually managed last season alright for a manager who was completley inexpereinced in that situation, if we dont gety promotion while i will be disappointed i wouldnt get on his back.

also if we are transfering our method of attack from hoof to passing then it may take some time to adapt, iam sure that he has learnt a lot and while he may not have the air of invinciabilty tat he had two seasons ago he is still learning

its fine he is far more than a one season wonder, he has always said that hes constontaly learning and he is far ever ganing more experince

No worries. Forums is for discussion. We shall discuss :]]

I realise that they have probably spent a lot of time together, but its just they haven't played any first team football together until pre season. So the understanding probably isn't there when they have to play at a competitive pace, and any footballer who spends 6 months without a proper run out in the first team is goign to be rusty.

Just my opinion of course, and its probably wrong. :]]

Aidy isn't a one season wonder. Not no way, not no how.

How can you fluke promotion with a team that quite frankly, was as patched together as ours was? Half of them had never played together before! I think we'll be there or there abouts this season but it's not the end of the world if we don't go up. Although we will - We're gonna win it :)

That's a very good point, my gathering of training is that Aidy splits the players into two teams, one is the first choice players, the other the 'back-up' team, so I'd imagine they would be used to playing with one another, with various changes, however, you are right, this is no where near good enough to reflect a 90 minutes Championship match.
