Awesome. Tore Jermaine Wright to pieces when he came on. McAnuff looked good first half when he cut inside and recieved the ball but went missing a bit second half. Two good changes by Aidy...Hendo and Johnson changed the game IMO. Would have both of them in the 11 for Cardiff. Hopefully we can extend the loan until the end of the season.
I agree i thought Johnson was class and Hendo speaks for himself haha definately should try and get him till the end of the season...he'll only get better
we have to try and get him to stay till the end of the season look a class player took people on and his crosses where pure class
Agree 100% with you all. And in addition to his sharpness and great dribbling/crossing, he delivered perfect dead balls every time - something we have sorely missed since Ash was sold.
Aye. Thought he looked class. Haven't been at a PC since Thursday so I didn't know who he was but this looks like a shrewd move from Aidy. McAnuff now has something to prove really after an impressive debut but below average performances since. I say stick Johnson left wing vs Cardiff and bring on The Muff with about the same amount of time to go as he did with Johnson. Also have Ellington and Hendo upfront with King off the bench at the same time as The Muff.
Does anyone know if there is possibility of buying him in Jan if the loan is a success, or is he likely to figure in Boro's plans? If he plays like Sat every week we should pay whatever to get him.
some people i know up in middlesbrough have rated him ever since his debut. Hes quick athletic great agility and can whip a ball in. get him till the end of the season then if anything once we go up look to buy him permanately
how much would he cost? i thikn he looked good, i've been disappointed with mcanuff so far, maybe he'll take time to settle in, hopefully
i wood put a bet on and say anything under a million would be a bargain got a good future ahead of him and boothroyd and the coaches can get even more out of him cos middlesbrough have done a great job
I think he'd cost a lot more than that to be honest, I'm thinking more around the £3-4m mark. He did look very good yesterday though, and as others have said it's great to see someone that can take a bloody free kick! I'd like to see him start on Wednesday. Also, on McAnuff, I think I like everyone else have been dissapointed with him so far, but you have to feel sorry for him, because 1. The left side isn't his best and 2. He hardly ever gets the ball to feet, where as Tommy on the right does. You have to feel that we've been wasting him a bit so far, although he still could of been better any way. I'd be interested to see how it would be if the two swapped wings though.
We have to be careful here I think. Johnson will never be our player. We will never buy him, and it is doubtful that we will get a loan extension with Middlesbrough doing poorly. He is there to push Muff, not replace him. Then we will end up handicapping our own player and will have to pay the penalty when Johnson leaves. Definitely a brilliant sub option to have. He was outstanding when he came on in every way.
There is virtually no way we would ever get him. You could tell from the moment he got the ball, that he has class and I was impressed that he manged to take players on and advance at the same time. He seems to be rated a lot more than Stuary Downing up there, which is not difficult I know. If he does impress in the 3 months, slap a silly bid of like 3 million in for him, at the moment he is not our player and might end up playing a couple of games and that is it (is there a recall option on these so called emergency loans they allow outside the transfer window?)
I would be amazed if we got him on a permenant, or even a loan extension. Boro knows, and he knows that he has a real future at that club. He would have no real reason to leave, unfortunately. Good loan signing though and one who could definately help in maintaining top spot until christmas where we could possibly bring in another winger to push The Muff. Nathan Dyer anyone?
