ABBA Penalty Shootouts

Oh come on. Getting a bunch of students to do ABBA shootouts is the same as a sample of world cups and playoff games under ABAB with associated pressure? That would be utter nonsense and completely invalid.

 

Why do you think I have all the answers as to what they did? I also think that would be an insufficient test as it eliminates many possible causes of the outcome discrepancy. I cannot tell you how they justified ABBA penalties, I can only assume. My two cents was to demonstrate the statistical reasons why ABAB is unfair, I cannot give you any more than that.

 

The first part of you post was great but then you claimed that they had demonstrated that ABBA was superior. This isn't true if there have only been 5 in the sample and any others are under no pressure.

 

I dont know why anyone would feel they need to get animated about ABAB v ABBA.

But ABBA equals out the type of tension the players and their fans experience throughout the series, so it seems slightly fairer to me, but I couldn't really care less either way.
