    This week from the Manager

    Hi everyone,

I’ve had some weeks here at Watford, but I think I can honestly say that this one goes close to topping them all!

I expect you’d all imagine me to start with the ‘goal that never was’ on Saturday, but to be honest I think that would be unfair on the players, and especially those younger players, who beat West Ham United last night.

I don’t want us to get carried away because it’s hardly as though we’ve won the cup, but the performances of so many individuals were so encouraging last night that it was enough to restore your faith in the game.

To boss, for long periods, a side like West Ham about was great. There they were with the likes of England international Matthew Upson in the side, and there we were with teenagers who not only went toe-to-toe with them, but showed them how it can be done.

The midfield especially looked really good; Lee Williamson showed great maturity and both Ross Jenkins and Al Bangura looked really comfortable in the side. Again, I thought Will Hoskins led the line exceptionally well and there were numerous other players who could rightly be proud of their role in the game.

And you were superb too, from the moment you chanted 1-0 to the Golden Boys when the ball went wide early on, through to the final whistle, you backed us. We can’t ask for much more than that.

It’s amazing how a little bit of adversity can really bring people together and we’ve certainly closed ranks this week, getting right behind one-another, which is important.

We’ll need to be as tight as possible again on Saturday, because Sheffield United will be hurting this morning after their beating at the hands of Arsenal’s youngsters, and we have to be wary of the backlash.

Of course, we’re all hoping they don’t get a goal lead like Reading did at the weekend! I still can’t quite believe it to be honest and it seems to be the only thing that’s been talked about all week, so what can I add? Nothing really. It’s time to move on, and it’s time to think about Sheffield United on Saturday.

    Come on!

And that follows some very sane comments after Wet Spam.

He's regaining respect in my eyes following the shyte that was last season.
