Can I tell you the tale of Watford playing a side in the Quarter Final of the Carling Cup against a team that recently sacked their manager

Sounds like our game against Spurs tomorrow?

No - December '04 Lewington in charge and Three Counties reported:

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne were on the pitch at half time and Watford certainly had the X-Factor! It was a fantastic performance which propelled the Hornets into the last four of the Carling Cup, with two goals from Heidur Helguson and one from Bruce Dyer.

We of course beat a Portsmouth side who had a few days previously parted company with a certain Harry Redknapp

I am sure someone will have told Frank Lampard Senior about that night and I am pretty sure that Mr Lampard's Watford side would rather want to repeat the 3-0 scoreline against Mr Redkapp's latest side

Here's hoping - and of course we were drawn against Liverpool in the Semi Finals of the 2004/5 competition who this year were beaten by.....Spurs!

I like stats :naughty:. 3-0 tomorrow, a draw against Derby where Ellington misses a penalty as we win 1-0 on aggregate, (after he hit the woodwork 12 times), and stuff Burnley 5-3 in the final.

I can see it unfolding as I type.

    I probably shouldnt mention this..

But the last time Spurs paid us a visit in the league cup (2nd round 94/95)they beat us 6-3!

NB It was an early outing for Jurgen klinsmann in Spurs shirt..and he scored a hatrick.
