Watching the European results now. The BNP so far have a rise in their percentage. There is a serious possibility they may get a seat.

A sad, sad day for not only politics but Britain as a whole, and indeed Europe. We can only suffer as a result of this.

Hopefully Conservative, Lib dem and the green party can clean up Labour's drop in percentage, so extremists don't.

They have now won a seat in Yorks and Humber. This is awful news

They would already have seats in the commons if it wasn't for the dodgy old plurarity system. I think they would have two or three actually?

It is a sign of the mess that the government's of the world have created. I bet you anything that the percentages of the far-right parties in all European countries has gone up too.

Would rather the BNP than Labour at the moment. A lot of people don't read into the BNP enough and naturally assume the worst that there racists and the like.

Didn't vote, as im not old enough to  but I think its David Cameron and his gang at the Conservatives from here on and good on em as they could most probs do a much better job than the idiots in charge at the moment.

The extent of this 'problem' will be so over-hyped. One seat on the eu government, big deal. Hetic freeze we won't be 'suffering as a result of this', its more a symbolic thing.

Yeah, any thing involving the BNP is automatically racism at the highest level according to most people. I don't really know there policy's but im sure its not ultra bad.

Conservative will win the real election any way.

They want to get us out the EU which will apparently save 11 billion pounds a year. There main policy is giving British Jobs to British People.

11 Billion is a lot of money but could also f**k things up with the relationship with the other european countries if the UK isnt in the EU. BNP only got a seat becuase the voting percentage was an overall of something low like 40%. They won't get any where near winning the election.

Don't want to leave the EU, but I would like European Laws to **** off. We pay more than anyone else for the privilege, but it would be ridiculous to leave in practical terms. The EU is the least of our actual problems.

The BNP is a horrible, racist party who would enjoy kicking anybody slightly dusky out the country at a moments notice.

Anybody who feels like getting some Nick Griffin quotes have a 2 minute browse of t'internet, they aren't hard to find.

But, they can do **** all with one or two seats. They can do **** all with 50 seats for crying out loud!

All it shows is that people in this country don't trust any of the 'major' parties to sort the country out, and rightly so.

Personally, Cameron has listed a pretty substantial number of reforms that look pretty well rounded, and it really changed my opinion of him. They seem to have alot of common sense, except for privatising schools like some kind of America wannabe. I used to hate the poxy conservatives, but they seem less conservative now - especially compared to New Conservatives New Labour. Alot of what he said sounded like the kind of stuff that Labour has always avoided doing anything about - taking a few risks. (of course, unless the risk involves the nation's gold deposits...:dismay:)

To all those saying how bad can they be and rather them than labour etc.

They don't allow black people to join. The guy who won the seat has been quoted as saying he would rather go to prison than be in a meeting with a black person. They are racists of the highest order. The fact they are focusing on EU and British jobs is just a smokescreen to get them more votes. They want an all white Britain and I think we can all agree that would be a terrible thing.

EDIT: Forgot to mention i believe it was said on the telly that the guy elected is currently being prosecuted for making anti-islamic comments. Not 100% if it was him though, wasn't listening completely.

Agree with pretty much all the above. Not an expert but know about trading blocks (and tarrifs etc) so know that leaving the EU would have alot of disadvantages, but also agree with what you say about the laws. As I already said people will hype up the issue about the bnp winning this seat but it doesn't really have any impact on anyone. Tbh the bnps increase hasn't been as bad as alot of people had feared, UKIP seem to have done best out of the minorities benefiting from the mistrust in 'mainstream' politics at the moment.

Disagree with what you say about Cameron though. Don't believe alot of what he says and his policies aren't actually that clear as he spends too much time concentrating on criticising labour. Even though in some ways i think Browns been hard-done by he'll surely have to step down soon.

If more people had voted for Animals First like me this wouldn't have happened.

But we're getting off lightly with our facists. All over the mainland the respective *******ing parties are getting larger and larger. As it is here, we've only got one bloke, and who listens to Northerners in matter sof importance?

And, although neither of these votes should have been about the leaders, who have very little to do with anything locally or europeanly (i believe), it is clear to me that while the conservatives may well be due a crack at it, i can't see them doing much better. To be fair, there's not that much that wee gordon has done wrong, least of all this mountain-out-of-a-publically-paid-for-molehill-refurbishment. Still, one man shows himself to be a consumate leader amongst all of those who seem out of their depth.

So Nick Griffin gets three letters after his name and that gives him legitimacy and access? No flipping chance. He'll be a lot more bothered that 1 other BNP MEP was elected - watch as he moves to kill him off asap as a rival. Mark my words, the facists can't have two people on an equal footing and I bet t'other one gets booted from the party in the near future.

If you look at the figures quickly the BNP vote numbers have basically stood still or even dropped slightly. The problem is a lot of Labour and Tory voters stayed home thereby skewing the proportions needed to win a seat. There lies a major flaw in the proportional representation system of electing.

And Cude I'm afraid fella you're being a bit naive. Go and read all about the BNP, Nick Griffin and his cronies. They have no interest in policies for the betterment of the country as a whole, just the bit that's the right colour. It's very very thinly veiled. Their policies are laughable anyway.

Also is it people off here who keep texting me asking if I voted BNP? And randomly calling me a racist? Had a few texts now from numbers I don't recognise and as far as I'm aware this is the only place i've spoken online about the BNP. Doesn't mean I voted for them...

Don't get me wrong a few of there policies I did find a bit interesting.

To be honest I want to research more on the parties before the next elections, as i knew sweet FA about some of them. For example Edward Rigby I think it was, an Independant party. Who the heck is he?
