A Request to Everyone - Please Read

If Admin is to leave this forum, then this man/woman should take his place... the humour is fantastic, and the reality post such as above prove the poster has a clever mind and should as one of the forums oldest posters be respected!

I dont post on here often since the Premiership years where I had the misfortune to sit behind one of our old posters of the club site, cant remember his name, probably is on here now, abused me big time after we had words at Arsenal when he was making an T.w.a.t of himself.. recently broken nose if I remember correctly was his outstanding feature.

But what I do like Mr Admin is that anyone is allowed to make a point, some are real idiots, some are abusive, some are eloquent, and you generally allow them all to have their say.

You seem to be respected, a quiet word on here and most stuff stops.

To be honest, not sure what has happened to the original guys, Nak, Caz, Tring, Paddy etc as they are sorely missed, as it does seem a little more juvinile nowdays, but as yu say, its evolution.

I hope you stay Admin, it was your baby, its now perhaps in its un ruly teenage years, perhaps it will tuern into a wise old forum under your stewardship

I've not really commented on this decision yet, but for some reason right now feel the need to give my opinion on this decision.

I'm on this forum a lot, but post very infrequently, usually in bursts to be honest. Because I'm here so much, I understand the in-jokes and style of humour you're talking about more than a casual reader or a brand new user.

I honestly really don't see the point in clamping down on just one type of inane humour. If you're going to be forceful with the ban (which has been shown to be the case), you're going to end up looking like you're favouring certain members of this forum over others, when perhaps inane perhaps humourous (remember, we all know everyone doesn't share the same sense of humour) chat starts in a thread in one of the 'serious' sections of the forum (it's easy to find a thread that has had this happen since the ban - the one that made me think I should discuss this is 'david cotterill'). This could be said to put off potential new users, and contributes the same worth (i.e. humour without WFC-substance) as the type of humour that is currently outlawed but just perhaps to different people.

It alienates a select few I'd say, and those few might annoy some people on here, but thy entertain many too. I guess if Admin falls into the former category there's not a lot that can be done, and fair play, it's Admin's forum and he doesn't like it full of certain jokes. But it's just a shame I think. The forum will go on and everything, but in my opinion the only reason this forum has had staying power is because of the in-jokes, the stupidity and the willingness by most to not take things too seriously.

The phrase 'you can't please everyone' should certainly be remembered, but this concept could (should, in my opinion) have been used in response to those that were so tired of the jokes that they complained (also of course the 'ignore' function is there for a reason). In my opinion this move to shut a certain group up could put more people off using this forum than just letting the few people that do participate in this type of humour carry on. Perhaps those reacting in such aggressive ways to the humour should be told to cool off and live and let live, rather than those telling the jokes told to be quiet.

It's a tough job, and you certainly can't please everybody. I really like this forum, it makes me laugh pretty often, and I enjoy participating every so often. For that, hats off to you Admin. Don't take this as some sort of complaint, I just wish to register my thoughts on this matter, and add to a broader understanding of what those on these boards want. Or something.

EDIT: Also, good luck with your career change Admin, hope it comes off for you!

 

I'd personally just like to see consistency if such rules have to be in place. As far as I'm aware this is the only post that an infraction has been received for:

You could give me two minutes and I'd be able to find about ten other posts that show equal or worse contravening of the new rules with some of them being on this thread itself. With regard to that, not being able to be everywhere is no excuse to be honest. If you're going to make a stand then at least be fair and consistent and not ignore more long standing posters whilst banning and giving infractions to others for doing the same thing.

Anyway, I think I've made my views on the issue pretty clear and hopefully this will be my last post on the topic.

Maybe, but i think that there are one or two trying hard to make a better contribution. Hopefully thats reconised by their critics

 

I've just read this thread and must be honest I have not got a clue what it is all about. It's like i'm in a world I don't understand.

Some users have upset some people by posting comments that are somehow wrong seems to be the gist.

Admin if I ever pee anyone off just tell me.
