That semi final was worth an established 5/6 years as a mid table EPL club...easily

GT and AB's seasons in the Prem were both very forgettable. I have some good memories, such as Smart's goal versus Chelsea or Mooney at Liverpool away, but for the most part it was a year of getting dominated and seeing teams like Wimbledon beat us 5-0.

The good bits were GETTING promoted, not being there. Football is all about moments, and as far as I'm concerned anyone who would give up an unbelievable moment that got worldwide exposure for a single season of getting rammed every week needs their head examined. I barely remember most of the GT Prem season now, but I sure remember Nicky Wright's goal, as I will remember Deeney's.

Seriously? You're talking about exposure? One season in the premier league would give us more exposure than that goal ever could.

I was here for AB's promotion campaign. Zero coverage whatsoever, and nothing during the Premiership season (outside of a couple of TV appearances on channels that normally cover the Prem).

Deeney's goal got a lot of airtime over here, in a nation that largely pays no attention to footy. It went viral in a way that none of our Premiership campaigns ever did.

I still see and hear non-Watford fans talking about Deeney's goal. Unbelievable moment, not many things I'd trade it for. Certainly not 1 season in the Premiership, when that will very likely come in the next few years anyway.

That goal for me. Unlike some have suggested, I'm "over" Deeney's goal and it is in the past, however it is a glorious memory to add to many others in our history - like beating Liverpool to finish 2nd, Southampton 7-1, Reilly's header at Villa Park, Nicky Wright's overhead kick, Kaiserslautern at the Vic and Levski in Sofia, 3-0 v Leeds...
I came out of the Vic after the Leicester game and met an old boy who'd been going to watch Watford since the late 40's and he told me he'd never seen anything like it. That for me says it all. Such goals happen once in a lifetime at your club if you're lucky...and we were.

That's just it...Duxbury said in his interview it's a case of *when* we go up, not *if*. Once we're up this season's shortcomings won't matter, but we'll still have the memory of that moment for the rest of our lives. The fact we were ultimately disappointed a couple of weeks later doesn't make the experience any less real. None of us will ever see something like that again.

As I was living out in Germany at the time of that goal I know what that did for our international presence. Those 20 seconds were broadcast around the world and did a lot more for our image than bumping along the bottom the bottom of the prem.

I would have assumed the whole world was watching anyway as it was Leicester.
