A Chant for The Duke

Plain and simple, but IMHO effective: -

The same as the basic......

clap clap, clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap, "WATFORD"​

but substitute, the word Watford for..................

"THE DUKE"​

 

Use the Tottenham "y*ids!" song but replace y*ds with Duke, worked well on saturday.

 

No it didn't, it was crap!!!

 

Can't say yours comes close to even mantching, nevermind bettering it.

 

Chewitts one is better and effective. The other one wouldn't work, using 'the' just doesnt sound right.

 

''nathan, nathan ellington'' sounded fine to me!

 

Use the Lewington or Henderson chant. Obviously replacing with Ellington.

I can't believe you lot, you say that my suggested straight forward easy chant does not work, then you say that yodas does

If you say "The Duke" quickly, almost like it was one word, it sounds fine, if you pause between "The" and "Duke", I agree it won't sound right!!!

As for Yodas song, I like the principle, and the words up to and including "gunna" work fine, but the last bit "score against you" doesn't!!!

The original ends with...."walk all over you" so you can see the last bit probably needs to be 4 words to get the tempo right.

Try singing the song and the chant out loud, and you will see what I mean.

 

In my venerable opinion, chants devised on message boards never work...

 

Doing it to the Lewington chant would be simple and effective at showing our support even if it isn't original. Do like Yoda's though
My only attempts at chants have failed: Rinaldi my lord (Lloyd Doyley should have something else) and Moses is our saviour la la la la (last season - alas untrue!)

I thought I could hear distant strains of this song with Smithy scored on Saturday, just like old times.

 

the tomy smith song was the old - "hes gets the ball & does ***k all" song - well thats the version our lot were singing
