First ever Watford game : 1-1 draw with Hull City. Sat in the “new” stand - now SEJ stand.

Mike Packer scored for us, their keeper had a limp and couldn’t take goalkicks.

was the friday night before semi-final v Chelsea the following Saturday

You beat me by a few months. My half century comes up in December. Match 1 was a traditional 1-0 home defeat to L*t*n. Malcolm MacDonald was their centre forward and it was on The Big Match.

I was still filling my nappies then. My first game is impossible for me to remember as my Dad took me before I could even understand what was happening. First season ticket was 75,76 season but that's hazy too. Then the great GT era ,going from the main stand to the Rookery. Happy days.

    Happy anniversary Onion.

You must have seen some changes, electricity bringing floodlights, invention of the team bus replacing the old horse and cart etc..... :)

Cheeky young scamp ! Egg powder, rationing, jumpers for goalposts, isn’t? Wasn’t it? Eh, marvellous

That 1-0 defeat by Luton in Dec 1970 was my first game at the Vic as well! Went with a mate and his Dad - I've seen the 'Orns play more than 1,500 matches since then. AFAIK they never went back.....
