Form the BBC rumour page: "Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd wants to sign five players in January to beat the drop" Actually the orginal source is the NOTW but at least we can be certain Aidy is on the look out for new quality to improve the squad (like many other clubs) but I just hope we don't have to pay greatly over-inflated wages and transfer fee in a bidding war. I reckon AB might be looking for: 2 strikers Midfielder Central defender (which surprised me when he said this before) Right/left back?
They also quote he has only £3million to spend. Same paper different page links us with the Scunny lad for a Million. As some said this morning to me "what is he going to buy every one of the 5 from @@@@ing Non league Football"
My guess would be 2 permanents with 2 loan deals?! Sharp £1,000,000 Sheringham (free) Mills (loan) Cole (loan) 3 strikers (Sharp, Sheringham and Cole) should cover it, with Danny Mills coming in on loan from Man City to cover right back?
Another paper said he had £4 mil to spend, and £3/4 mil can stretch further than people would think. As I said on another thread last night, we need cheap young players that are unproven, who have the potential to do well for us in the Premiership, but if we get relegated they are willing to play in the Championship and help us get promoted. Here's my list of possible players (and what I think they are worth): Sharp £1 mil or Eastwood £1.5 mil Jarvis £500k Edwards £1 mil Davenport £1 mil 1 Loan striker - Hopefully a player experienced in the Premiership, maybe someone like Alan Smith. All these players could do well in the Premiership imo (Keep us up), but with the exception of Sharp are proven Championship players that could help us bounce back immediately
i highly doubt that scunny will let there prize asset leave for a million. that lad is going to be something special, they will want more than that for him.
Its scares the life out of me when i hear things like "we've got £3mil to spend.." There's a couple of league one clubs with that sort of budget!! I dont believe it for a second considering how little we've spent..... At least £10mil available in the pot and a small price worth investing!
