Hopefully we keep Sordell until the end of the season. In a way, with his form not being as good it means it is less likely that other clubs will come in for him at the moment. There is no point in him and Deeney forming a good partnership, if we sell him in Jan.
A very fair assessment there, well done. I can't speak highly enough of Mariappa and Nosworthy. If we manage to extend Nosworthy's loan to the end of the season then that will be a huge coup. I completely agree, Sordell's pass to Buaben was not good; Buaben saved Sordell's blushed when he managed to control it and smash in in the back of the net. If Sordell is off in January, then I think it is high time we give Garner some time on the pitch with Deeney. Deeney must continue to play, no question. Never thought I'd say it but he has been inspirational lately and would really damage our attack if he is benched.
When you think about having Garner and Beattie on the Bench, you realise that we've got the strongest forward line in World history.
I could count the total number of goals those four have scored for us on one hand. That said, Deeney was fantastic yesterday.
Agreed. Would like to keep to keep Sordell as he has some great potential and tbh I really cant see anyone offering 4mil for him in january as he just isnt worth that much atm. But if its true that he genuinly doesnt want to be at Watford than any resonable offer of 1.5-2mil we should accept and use some of the money to replace Kightly if we cant keep him on loan. From what little ive seen of Garnier than he can replace Sordell upfront easily enough
It would be foolish to let Sordell go until at least two quality replacements have been found. Deeney, Iwleumo, Garner and Beattie aren't going to score many goals and at least Sordell does create chances for himself, even though he has very little composure in front of goal. If Sordell goes, then our drip feed goal scoring potential would be reduced to zero. A massive change from last season where we scored for fun.
I would be very concerned if he goes and we are relying on a new signing hitting the ground running. Still think it could be a struggle to stay up tbh
Looking at those highlights I must say Sordell did brilliantly to set up the goal, fantastic play As for the goal, I guess it has to go down at Loach's fault but on the other hand you can clearly here him call for it and come out for the ball, IMO he seems to call too late and Mariappa doesnt have a chance to get out of the way
If Loach called for it then it is completely Mapps' fault. If he didn't then it is completely his fault. The fact that he came out and held his hands up on Twitter after the game would suggest that he didn't call for it.
Mapps jumped early and did the Helguson levitation trick to hang for the header, then Loach crashing into him messed it up and the rest is history
For me this is the main point. It's not the amount of mistakes our defence makes, it's the sheer level of comedy involved in those mistakes. Surely unrivalled by any other professional side?
Even if he called it he wasn't anywhere near it. He started moving for it about 10 years too late, if Mariappa had left it the other bloke would have won the header. As has been said, he admitted it was his fault anyway so I don't know why anyone is questioning it.
