2020/21 Secure Your Seat

Has anybody else had the club's latest communication and if they did would they mind taking the time to explain what the bleeding hell they're on about? It seems to be saying send us 20 quid to reserve your season ticket seat - although we're not selling season tickets. But, valued customer, your 20 quid gives you first dibs in the ballot for tickets for individual matches - however it 'has no bearing on your ability to access any fixtures played during 2020/21.'

Just read the email and came on here to see what people were saying . I don’t get it at all either . What’s the point of the £20? Why not just give existing ST holders first refusal when they start renewing as per usual .

Are they that strapped for cash . I bloody hope not What about those of us that opted for money off next seasons ticket instead of a refund , haven’t we already paid out £20.

The only thing I can think of is it’s just to gauge how many people will actually be interested in buying season tickets by forcing them to make some kind of monetary commitment . Seems a bit ill judged though

    I've just emailed Dave M.
I tried to do as requested but it would not accept my details.
    Hopeless.

I think the £20 is all about cashflow. They will be desperate to get some cash coming in I think.

Maybe they are expecting demand to be high?
It is also jolly decent that they have frozen ST prices
    isn't it ?.

So the £100 ish they have of mine towards my next season ticket isn't enough of a guarantee that I intend to buy another ST, but another £20 will apparantly convince them? Right.

It also says tickets are frozen, but then says that Phase 2 post-2015 STHs will now get the Phase 1 renewal price. So tickets aren't frozen then, they're reduced for the Premier League bandwagon fans, but the same for the ones who have been here when we were ****. Right.

Why not just be honest and send an email saying 'We're having a liquidity issue and need to quickly raise £250,000 to pay off some interest', because this clearly has nothing to do with ticketing databases!

Because that might not be the issue?

On ticketing issues, our club have always been miles behind the curve - this could be easily just be another misjudgment in policy. If enough people display their confusion, I’m sure it would be changed.

An interesting mail that seems to be sending mixed messages. Not being able to use some of the credit you have left with the club to secure your 20/21 ST shows this exercise for what it is - getting some cash in the till!

While you're right about the way its worded, in reality that split was always going to be unsustainable after relegation.

I'm going to buck the trend here but I don't really see the issue.

Relegation after our longest ever run in the Premier League probably raises a query over how many will renew. Other promotions have been one season wonders and our fanbase remained largely the same but I'd imagine our % of premier league glory hunting fan boys will have grown following this stint. This will be a way of finding out how many will not be renewing so they can start to flog them, or at least allocate them ready to sell when they get the green light.

It is £20 in the pot for mine, plus my credit from last season, and I'll pay the balance when they know what it is.

Agreed-those who were only STH for being in PL will not renew -if some of those "on the bandwagon" want to stay why p**s them off by putting it up-we want more fans not less surely

Who said anything about putting it up? I was complaining that the late comers get a discount, whilst those from before don't. Either keep both the same or reduce both, don't just reduce the late-comers.

  14. scummybear

    scummybear Reservist

Yeah, I agree with that - merging them into one group brings us back to the pre-PL set-up. My point is that some fans are paying less to watch Championship football than PL football, whereas others are paying the same (I know, I know, 4 games more but still).

  15. scummybear

    scummybear Reservist

It might not, but their email doesn't express anything that actually needs a deposit. Your seat is already reserved, and if you've already committed credit on top of that then it's doubly-reserved. Why would we need to pay to reserve our pre-reserved reservation? The only explanation I can see that fits is £££.

Also, I swear years ago there was a multi-quote button. Is that gone now or am I blind?

It’s well publicised the club have taken out a loan. Personally I don’t think the bank is empty or there is a cash flow problem.

I just think it’s just another error in judgment and communication.

You just keep pressing reply for each post you want to reply to and it stacks them up at the bottom for you to quote reply to.

They have form, so you may well be right. Although I believe the loan acts like an overdraft, so we only get charged interest on the money we actually use rather than a set amount? Whereas a refundable deposit from fans is sffectively an interest free short-term loan.

Exactly! The 20 quid doesn't seem to secure anything! It's very poorly worded - almost reads like a translation

Badly worded by me-why should newcomers pay more than us long standing STH

What would we reduce the pre 2015 STH prices to-what they were then ?

5 year stay in PL is enough to convince me that those who purchased post 2015 should be treated the same as us long standing STH-we want more fans-how do we encourage that ?

It is a deposit and once they are able to sell season tickets it will be deducted from the price along with any credit you may have from last season

It doesn't work anyway. As per normal, the online ticketing is a disaster. Tried to reserve 4 ST's but it told me I've ordered too many. I'm the only one with an account, so they better sort it out to allow supporters the ability to reserve their own group or else only individual fans will be a secure their seats.

To be fair, anybody with 100% home attendance last season deserves to be treated like a prince even if it's their only season. Sitting through that is definitely showing enough loyalty.

My issue isn't so much that they should pay more, but that the club are justifying selective ST price reductions. Some get a reduction, others don't. Seems odd to me.

I called the ticket office they say there is a problem with the system for allowing you to purchase for your network-she took the money over the phone-agree that it should have been launched with that (standard) capability rather than having to call

Couldn't get through on the phone either. Was constantly engaged, so I emailed the ticket office and will leave it at that. I'm not going to bust a gut over it, if they make it so difficult.

Looking at it, I think what it's trying to say is you need to pay £20 to guarantee 'your' season ticket seat will still be yours at whatever point in the 20/21 season they're able to start selling season tickets again. At that point the charge will be pro rata based on how many games remain in the season and using last season's phase 1 pricing for everyone.

And in the absence of season tickets going on sale there will be match by match ticketing arrangements put in place and some sort of ballot to decide the unlucky souls who will be made to attend.
