Ugh, easily one of the worst performances by the Galaxy since Beckham's first year here under Ruud Gullitt. Still, a draw, despite the terribleness...

Results don't really matter for another 3 months. Not much more than a glorified pre-season.

I would say you are only trying to make me feel better, but I know you are trying to make yourself feel better. Cooper's goal was a bit galling, even to a more or less neutral.

But you are right in a way...all these points matter: get to 50 and you are in to the post season. A bit like promotion/relegation, eh?

No doubt, but as the Dynamo have made a habit of practicing and LA did last year, you can slowly build form over the final stretch and come out firing in the play-offs. It's almost detrimental to come out all guns blazing and peak too early in this league. I generally don't pay too much attention until the European season ends.

I'll be attending my first game next weekend though vs. San Jose, with a buddy from England who is coming over to visit. He's a Tottenham ST holder so I'm interested to see what he makes of it all.

Hammer them, and at the very least, have a nice day out at the park pleasantly drunk.

As long as you are in the running for playoffs, you have a chance...

Lovely weather for a game. :naughty: USA did get the points despite the Costa Rican's obvious displeasure with the game being completed after being stopped midway in the second half.

I must say it was nice to see Kay Murray on BeIN Sport's coverage of the South American qualifiers. Used to be on Real Madrid TV.

I watched the USMNT game last night, it was incredible. I can't believe they managed to complete the game. Absolutely terrible in terms of being a football match, but for sporting drama, you can't beat a good blizzard to cause chaos on the field.

It was an amazing experience. A buddy went to Denver and said the weather was ridiculous...winning made it all worthwhile, but had USA lost, he said it would have really really sucked.

I think you misread the players, Smudge.

They wanted to play, and universally players on both sides objected to the stoppage, and I give the Tico's huge credit for that.

Look...If you were in a WC qualifier in the CONCACAF hex, 70', down a goal, you would be DYING to get a chance to score the goal that got you the point or even a winner...or else, you would not have made the team in the first place.

Now the CRC federation MUST contest the result or else heads would roll and all those lucrative Qatari sheiks and Russian oil barons would get to bribe someone else in their place...

Since we are talking CONCACAF, anything can happen with the appeal...absolutely anything.

Hey Ben, I'm going to be at the Galaxy game vs Philly. Are you in Philly, or will you be attending? We should grab a beer or a whiskey or something.

Sadly, I will be Up in State College, for the summer working for the NCAA Compliance office. I'll have to see if I can some time off to head down.

Yeah, that was disappointing. I think the coach simply has been out-coached the last two games. I like at our kids and rookies have been given a lot of playing time, and like that the best back one is being played, but you can't win if you don't score...looking at you Landon!!!

    Not in the least...
Galaxy midfield have been dynamic and creative in his absence. We're missing a few long balls, but have made up for it with young exciting American kids who grew up in the area. It's been a fun season, with the exception of Landon being a tool, and Carlo Cudicini being old and crappy. Why we signed him, I'll never know.

I can't understand why it hasn't happened sooner, but it has finally happened. Chivas has been sued for racial discrimination.

click here for the Los Angeles Times article: Chivas USA says it doesn't discriminate -- "kind of"

I've been incredibly underwhelmed by MLS so far this season. Maybe it's because Watford have been doing well, but I've barely paid any attention to it, even during the barren summer months. In fact, I've even turned down a number of free tickets to Dynamo games because my interest has waned so much.

I can only see it growing and expanding with it's own peculiar American traditions attached to it. Which is good. Every region of the world appreciates football in subtly different ways.

Seattle Sounders seem to be one of the most popular sides in terms of support and the expression of it from the fans.

Agree with your assessment of the first half of this season, Lukey. However, it is often like that in MLS. Since the second season, aka playoffs, is what counts, it's often the last half of the regular season that gets interesting.

That second half of regular season officially starts today, with the closing of the transfer window last night. Lampard re-upped with Chelsea, and LA's wheeler dealer Tim Leiweke parted ways with owners AEG and landed at the Maple Leafs/TFC organization in Toronto. Without Leiweke, LA is basically idea-less when it comes to making an offer to get a replacement big name star. LA took a swing at Gio Dos Santos, but he literally flipped the bird to the Galaxy. (The back story is LA was flirting with Dos Santos a couple years back and had an offer on the table to him. Before he could review it, the Galaxy snatched it back. It seemed Beckham wanted Robbie Keane, so Beckham got Robbie Keane. Now, when the Galaxy went to put another offer in front of him, he wanted nothing to do with the G's.)

LA has apparently extended an offer to Omar Gonzalez to become a Designated Player...if that doesn't scream lack of management, I don't what does. Leiweke would have not only resigned Omar to a strong deal, he would have obtained Clint Dempsey's services and probably gotten MLS to pay for it.

The Galaxy seem like they are in for a world of trouble in this new MLS they had a hand in creating... I still expect a strong finish, but winning playoffs seems like a long shot right now. I'm hoping Don Garber, MLS commissioner, rides in like a white knight and offers LA something amazing that will really pi ss off the rest of the league and assure us a win in MLS Cup.

Thoughts on putting Gonzo on a DP contract, haven't heard a lot of positive feed back about it. Seems would rather sign a big name attacker then a young american defender.

The Galaxy are absolute crap without Omar.... however, a Designated Player contract for him is a wasted opportunity, it seems to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to have him, but we should have gotten more. I wonder if MLS will change the rules for US Nats under DP contracts? It's been rumored for a couple years, and with first Landon and now Dempsey returning and then Omar getting DP money, it would seem like a good time for it. I'd love to see KC keep Zusi and RBNY get an American of worth.

On the plus side, it will make the Galaxy manager's job of stabilizing the team down the line easier knowing that Omar is locked down, and AJ DeLaGarza and Sean Franklin are set for the long term, too. With the addition of Panama's keeper Penedo, the G's can dump Carlo Cudicini aka Carlo Crapuccino and seal up the defense. Keeper errors have been the main reason behind the Galaxy giving up at least 10 points, probably more, and most in the last 5 minutes of the games.

There are a few more rumors floating around still, but without Leiweke, I have little faith anything worthwhile will come of it. The Galaxy are rudderless now... One is Samuel Eto'o...whatever. Not sure how that could happen with the transfer window closed, but the Galaxy often get what they need when they need it from MLS.
