David Beckham insists he is staying with the LA Galaxy despite a hostile response from some fans to his return.

The England midfielder was booed by sections of the crowd at his first home game after a loan spell at AC Milan.

But he said: "At the end of the day, I play my game, whether I get booed or not doesn't matter to me."

He also denied reports he is planning to put his Beverly Hills home up for sale, saying: "That's not true... it's just another rumour."

Beckham, 34, provoked the wrath of some Galaxy supporters by missing the first half of the Major League Soccer season in order to play for AC Milan.

He was keen to satisfy England boss Fabio Capello's demand for him to play at the highest level to remain in the running for international selection.

Beckham, England's most capped outfield player with 112 appearances, is keen to play on until the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

He said he could handle any negative reaction in LA sparked by his attempts to prolong his England career.

"It is not about whether I can move on. To be honest, all I'm going to do is play my football, and as long as it's good enough for myself and the team nothing else matters," he added.

But the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star admitted: "I don't like my family seeing that and hearing that (abuse), from an organised group of fans.

"I think it was disrespectful, some of the things that were being said and also some of the banners, but it is what it is."

Beckham has a five-year MLS contract, which began in 2007 and allows for him to spend the off-season on loan at a European club.

He added he will be available for England's friendly against the Netherlands in August, if selected.

"Everyone knows that I've always been available for my country whether it be a friendly or a qualifying game, so I'm always available," he said.

"I've spoken to (Galaxy coach) Bruce (Arena) and he's more than happy that if I get called up for my country he and the club totally support that, so it's not a problem."

Asked about rumours he and his family are selling their LA base, Beckham joked: "As far as I know, no. I hope not because I want somewhere to live (here) for quite a few years."

OK smartarse, I thought fitz probably would know what rugby was, I was just trying to be helpful if he didn't,

But I bet you if I did a vox pop in Down town Manhattan or any city in the USA that most people I asked would not know what Rugby was.

Denmark is just plain fantastic. Not big enough or the "in places" bit and just amazing all round. We know what rugby and cricket are - we're just incredibly crap at both.

Sure, I mean, I rate Sweden stupidly high and love it to bits, but it has it's bad areas right... Skane or Rosengard to be more specific ;)

I'm sure Denmark, Holland (Amsterdam springs to mind, **** hole), Canada and Germany are the same, hell, even Neverland.

Skåne, Halland and Blekinge are the only part of Sweden worth anything.

Actually - I quite like Sweden. Beautiful country. The swedes are nice people as well. Sure there are awful bits - like their football team. But in general I quite like Sweden.

Skåne is a hellhole! Have you ever visited Malmo?! Please take it back!

Nothing wrong with our national football team, well, as soon as Lagerback gets out that is. Would have been fine for the future too if Robin Soder didn't go and crock himself, still, we have Marcus Berg. :]]

Beckham was fined $1000 by the MLS today for his actions in challenging fans in the stands to come down on the field.

It would have been funnier if the fine was just $1.

Still the point is made: you were wrong, ********!

I'm sure Jordan loved it! He's a LARS favorite for his hustle. He's everything Beckham isn't.

I was refering to Becks tho' I'm sure you're right about Jordan.

I hadn't noticed Beckham once the play started, until he turned around rather than getting on and playing the game like a good player would. The moment Beckham struck the corner, the attention was on the rest of the team we love. His taking credit for it didn't help his cause much.

A corner kick is rather mechanical, isn't it? Getting on the other end of it is the hard part. It's not like he kicked it straight in himself.

I do recall Jordan running towards us and raising his hands with a smile before patting a Beckham who had his back to him to remind him to get back in the game.

He is really screwed now. By revealing he can be reached, people are going to be all over him, for better or for worse.
    I saw this live...

It was an englishman teasing him with the usual 1990's era stuff. He stopped play to respond to the guy, but told him he can't be "a real englishman", or something like that, then went on to say the Riot Squad is "a disgrace". While signing autographs for kids at the end of the match, and adult fan can be overheard yapping and mentioning "the Riot Squad, bro" to the player who abruptly quits mid signature signing a girl's item and bolts...

As you can imagine, calling LARS a disgrace has not gone over well.

We'll see what people do at the Barcelona friendly, and while I will be supporting the Galaxy and omitting support for Beckham, I can see a lot of others actively hating on Beckham again.

Beckham will be under a Microscope for the rest of his career here.

Which is publicising the american league in far greater a way than his move originally did at all. Although you and him are coming off badly, this is fantastic for the sport over there, isn't it?

It was last night, and the result would have been a lot better if Jay was playing...

USA got spanked hard. Neither side had their full team in but after a steady exciting 0-0 first half, Mexico exploded for 5 unanswered goals in the second half.

The Riot Squad are coming off very well in the US press now, and it is just the patriotic English press and mommy's and daddy's who dislike us now.

LARS are being seen very positively because we aren't putting up with BS that is "Teh Beckham" in the eyes of the mainstream press.

One of ours appeared on a syndicated ESPN radio show and was greeted very warmly and very sympathetically.

No, I don't think Beckham's behavior does the sport any favors in the long run, simply piles on to what the soccer haters love: when soccer fails. No not good at all.

    Beckham "Under the gun"

3:30 of this clip is where some KC dude starts antagonizing Beckham. The best part is the girl in the pink shirt who tries to shake his hand but misses out twice. I mentioned this above a ways...

RIOT SQUAD BROAH! Please note, he is not "one of us".

The contract length and terms appear to be fluid based on the amount of money one throws into AEG's lap.

Originally it was to be a 5 year deal.

Y&P, to elaborate, how MLS appears overseas or any money made by MLS as a result of overseas sales of jersey's etc is just the Cherry on top. The only thing that matters as far as the success or failure of MLS is what happens domestically.

Overseas markets are already saturated with soccer, and MLS has plenty of opportunity to make a dent in the market right here.

The only thing that really matters as far as how MLS appears abroad is whether or not a player from overseas will rule out a contract with MLS simply because it is MLS.

I don't think the Galaxy or MLS has ever had such publicity. This is not a bad thing.

i personally think that the way he has been treated is slightly unfair. he went to milan to give himself a better chance of getting in the national squad again, and fair play to him he has done. i reckon he could end up playing well into his late 30s at this rate.

he probably shouldnt have moved to the MLS in the first place, it was a ridiculous move but I guess if someone is offering you that much money, firstly they are stupid for doing so and perhaps you would be stupid to turn it down.

The context of mainstream media in the US being nearly uniformly soccer hating is important.

Soccer is the ginger kid in class that gets kicked even when the teacher is looking.

"Lifetime" ban of Beckham fan rescinded

    In conclusion:
    1. We made our point.
    2. Beckham made a fool of himself, and got fined for it.
    3. No repercussions for LARS.

    EDIT:
A few reports had been saying that Beckham's agents had been asking for the ban to be lifted, which you will excuse me for disbelieving at first look, given the incredible 'spin' artistry 19 and Beckham's handlers are capable of.

However, 'the fan' himself says that reliable sources [presumably known to him as a result of his dealings with the Galaxy Front Office] told him Beckham's people did ask for the ban to be lifted.

Granted, this is still spin...and it's the kind of spin you do when you have no other choice left, but regardless of why he's doing it, it's the right move.
