yeah i think we were relying(sp) on young too much and now that he has left were playing as a team again. good times!
I don't think it's a coincidence, I definitely believe it's a direct cause of Ash leaving. I mentioned this in another thread (The Ash effect?), that when a struggling team loses their star player it often gives them a good run. The players were simply relying too much on Ashley doing the job, now we have 11 players out there who all try to do the job! The fact that Mahon got injured doubled this effect for Bang Bang. He just _had_ to step up and roll up his sleeves after that Liverpool game and now being "in charge" of the defensive role in midfield, and he's done just that. Another thing... BangBang and Mahon in central midfield is a bad combination... None of them contribute much offensively. Francis is really good at making deep runs in the box, giving us more power up front, so either Bang Bang OR Mahon paired with Francis looks so much better.
Very true. Also I think that we have started to abandon the long ball style in favour of getting the ball down and playing it around. Couple this with Captain Fantastic Jordan Stewart and you can see why we have been so successful over the last two games. Seriously though, playing the ball around is much better for us, we might not be able to beat the Uniteds and Chelseas of this world but I think it will give us a better chance against the rest of the Premiership.
I much prefer the way we played today. Gavin has been good but I think some time on the bench will do him good. He needs to have a look at himself and how he plays. To much balls in the air we need to play through the deck. Mahon is not skillfull but gives 100% ok for Championship but in the prem we need more skillfull players. Cracking result today. ;D ;D ;D ;D
I personally believe it was the lack lustre, pathetic passionless effort v Liverpool which was totally unacceptable to evryone connected a\t the club - that dour effort in my mind is the turning point as since then we have played with such spirit and passion for the cause its a bit over whelming. We are also getting the rub of the green, a change in fortune. Would wet spam have got a penalty from other refs, whether or not it was a dive? Man Utd 2 Watford 3 looooooooooooooooooother.
Or the change in the back-room coaching set-up? Or the fact that the transfer window is still open and the players know Aidy has some cash to buy some competition for their places? Or the fact that the odd professional message board member is not pillorying them daily on here - sorry - very naughty!;D
Odd we might be, but professional we all are not Let's just be happy we have had 2 back to back wins. Bring on Manure!
