lol, sorry didn't want to swear, PMSL is damn swearing? seriously i had this yesterday for about 20 mins as well.
I get e-mailed whenever this occurs and someone tries to access the server, so from 8am-ish yesterday I had loads! If it wasn't for the main site being shut right now I honestly think I'd transfer to a different host, and all the rubbish that comes with transferring, and that could mean some serious downtime but I'm really thinking it over right now.
That's probably correct. It's easy to concentrate on downtime of 1% and forget the other 99% with no problems. Great support though, 24 hour immediate chat support and a quickly answered ticketing system. I think I'll change one of the forum topics into a downtime/problem forum so there's at least a viewable record.
Would it cost you more to get on a more reliable server? I can only speak for myself but I'd chip in a couple of quid - and if others did the same it'd all add up. I'm sure no one would expect anything in return. In fact, just have moderators who listen and justify themselves and an admin who is actually prepared to take development ideas on board (something WFC weren't in the slightest interested in) is good enough for me.
Thanks for the offer but all is OK for now. A user called Colonel also offered space to host this domain on his servers which was kind of him, but the moneys paid for a 2 year plan and I have no problem with that. As jobr said, who can say if another server would be more reliable in the long term? Could be a case of out of the frying pan into the fire. If things go seriously downhill then I'll make a poll first before acting. I just like to vent sometimes
