How does everyone see it panning out, my thoughts, presuming we get a left back on loan... Ipswich v Watford (D) Middlesbrough v Watford (W) Coventry v Watford (W) Watford v Hull (W) Watford v Norwich (D) Leeds v Watford (D) Watford v Barnsley (W) Leicester v Watford (L) Watford v QPR (W) Preston v Watford (W) Would see us finish with 74 points, although i'm probably abit too optimistic, what does everyone else think? Just thought i'd add, Bassini and Thomas were in Graham Taylors regular seats today, had a brief word and seemed nice enough people.
If we can get 5-7 points from the next 3 away games then who knows but that run in is tough! Thank goodness we're safe now!
75 points will be the minimum required for 6th place. 22 points from 30 would be a far greater acheivement than the 98-99 run in, given our lack of experience and squad depth. However, if we were to win on Tuesday night and Burnley lost (unlikely), we would be in 7th place and leading the chasing pack!
Still personally think its possible. We have games against the sides in and around us : Hull, Leicester, Leeds as well as games against mid table and lower placed sides. If we win our game in hand we will go level with Burnley who still have some tricky fixtures : Bristol City,Leicester, Forest, Swansea, Pompey and Cardiff. I have a sneaky feeling we may surprise a few still this season. COYH's!
If you look at todays results, they pretty much went in our favour. We could sneak it, as we have now had our really bad patch and would likr to think we have no fear.
If we do sneak into the play offs and somehow get promoted we would need to look at it as a money making exersise. IMO we should not splash out to try and stay up as it would almost certainly be just a waste of our new found wealth. It would be far better to go along for the ride take the cash and run back to the championship. Once back in the championship we should then use the money wisely and build for a more consolidated run at the premiership over the next season or two. IMO that would be the right kind of strategy to follow? Does anyone agree?
:sign15: completely. Let our young lads have a year up there and save the money to pay of half the debt and build east stand!
Under the terms of the proposed agreement with LMA and GS we have to repay all the debt immediately on promtion to the PL.
I don't think we'll make it but in some ways we're quite a nice position. We have no pressure on ourselves so we can make life difficult for the other clubs around us and apply pressure unto them. Personally, a top 10 finish would be brilliant and a great foundation for next season.
Tuesday is huge, we've pretty much secured Championship football next season so we have nothing to lose. If we win Tuesday we can go 4 points off the playoffs (Depending on how Burnley do too) with 9 games remaining. Preston and QPR as the last two games are great games to have, QPR hopefully would have secured Premiership football and Preston will be down.

With such a thin squad and no likely loan additions we could just as easily remain in mid-table oblivion to the end of the season - it would only take an injury to Tiny or Danny. This would actually still be some achievement given the limited resouces Malky has had to work with. I thought we would be in a relegation battle but Malky and the team have done wonders and played great football at the same time.
The teams in the play-off places seem to be slipping up at present whereas it seems most of the chasing pack are on little runs and putting results together.I think it could be quite interesting come the final day of the season and i'll be very surprised if the team that finishes 6th has 75 points or more.
My response was to someone who suggested that we should pay off half the debt, I was just making the point that we would not have that option....
I think thats VERY optimistic. Then again, if we start those fixtures with 4 points from the first two games continuing our form from the last couple of weeks we could put a run together. If we can get that momentum going, who knows? Personally, i think we'll still finish the season strongly but draw and lose a couple more than you have predicted finishing 9th or 10th.
TOTALLY AGREE with the above!! I think a lot rests on the Ipswich result on Tuesday.. IMO I think it's going to take at least 75+ points to reach 6th place this season.. a defeat on Tuesday means we would need to win 8 out of our final 9 in order to hit 77 points which should be enough. We need to win our next 3, only then will I start thinking that play offs is possible

I was quite hopeful of a good run until i saw the fixtures, Hull, Norwich, Leeds and Leicester. Ah well, has been a good season whatever happens now.
kj you old t.osspot - it was you who DEMANDED the board spend at least£17million pound on players on the last promotion.... That was on a fred when I asked about should we just let the players who have taken us up, take us back down and we keep the dosh and build from there... this idea of vor is not an original idea... but that don't matter , what matters is you demanding we spend 17m - you were wrong you donut back then - glad to see you see sense now. hows your mrs, she a vegan yet? say hello to her. Ypu taking ehr to leeds -another weekender? let me know if you are..
