What I don’t understand is the relegation clause in players contracts. Surely there is a provision for wage reduction in the event of relegation? This would also give a collective incentive to put in 100% effort to prevent relegation? But some players seemed to go on the equivalent of a go slow ffs? Maybe some star players don’t have such a clause but Dawson does so he refused to play ? All speculation but I would have thought the Pozzos had thought ahead to prevent a fire sale of star and future star players to cut or cover an unsustainable wage bill.
We can only sell them if someone wants them. And the bottom line is if the owners are happy with the price, that's their buisness, all this getting worked up about how we should have hung out for £5mill more, it's not like us supporters are getting a cut of it is it?
There probably is, but when it actually comes to taking that wage reduction, (which would still leave them earning sums we mere mortals can only dream of) they don't want it so agitate for a transfer to a new club and a new deal. If the rumours about Dawson are correct, then he needs his butt kicking, he has been relegated two years on the bounce, what part of that experience makes him believe he is, or ever was premiership class?
Your cheque didn't arrive yet then? Give Gino a call. You're owed at least £6 from the sale of Danny Graham, the rest is working it's way through the accounts.
this exact argument, it’s none of our business really. So long as the owners field a team that is competitive they can do what they want.
Not really but we're signing him soon to replace Estupinan. He'll need 6 weeks to get up to speed, as normal, and so may be involved by Christmas.
Except Gino will put the phone down when he hears PAOK have asked for more money. And we will end up with Sema instead playing there with Ivic becoming player-manager when Pedro is sold in January to the safe can be kept full.
There won’t be anymore football played by that point I bet... Maybe that’s Gino’s plan. Don’t need players if there’s no football. And he won’t have to be paying anyone whilst it’s off. The man’s genius knows no bounds. He went to Harvard ya know...
I reckon with all the genius business brains on his forum , we should get together and show Gino what he s doing wrong . The bloke clearly has no idea how to run a football club , especially when compared with the collective viewpoints of people on this forum who have such successful professional lives that they have so much spare time that can only be filled by posting on football forums. I mean everyone knows that’s the first thing you want to do after you ve become a successful and financially independent businessman .
Big fan of how this thread has made it to 5 pages off the back of a footnote on a Thessaloniki based website a month ago - which lets face it, was likely boll*cks and they just made it up by using Ivic as lazy reasoning. 5 pages. Good work all.
This is nothing. The Tommy Smith thread went for about 900 pages based on him being sighted in Hemel or some madness.
https://twitter.com/JMateusPOV/status/1306230834937106432 - Someones made this showcasing his game last night. Safe to say we don't have a chance anymore.
PAOK have lost their Champions League qualifier against Krasnodar 4-2 on aggregate. If we were ever going to make a move for Giannoulis, it was going to be after this result.
Was just about to post something similar. Means staying at PAOK becomes less attractive for him and also that they‘ll need cash. But I’d expect him to move to a better side than us. Of all the LBs linked, he’s the one that I’d be most excited to see join.
Re wage reduction clauses as discussed earlier, I was listening to Simon Jordan slug it out with that agent who owned Tevez and Mascherno on talk sport the other day, basically Jordan reckoned relegation clauses are somewhat of a myth and most players don’t accept them anymore.
