I think Deeney will go above Okaka in the pecking order to be honest.

People are forgetting how good Deeney can be. He's not just a bulldozer, he can play some great football at times.

Also, in a game against a team like Brighton, there's no reason why he can't take Cleverley's place and play behind Gray like he did Ighalo and let Chalobah and Doccoure sit.

I agree. If everyone else has changed the way they play from how they did last season, why should we assume that Troy can'r or won't?

His note in the Liverpool programme made it very clear (if anyone still doubted it) that he didn't like the way we were set up last season.

Read the forums all the time but rarely post, great game yesterday but I was in the Bournemouth end. Take a look at their forum as they have started a thread all about me. It's obvious which thread, sorry don't know how to post links.

This time last year there were calls of Deeney fo England, now nobody thinks that. Ironically if he had this team around him last season he might have made it. I thinks he'll stay and be part of a good season.

Not sure if it was this thread but I also said I felt deeney could have a great season this year. He's actually a very technically good footballer with pretty good vision and reading of the game. I think it's fair to say the system didn't suit him last year, but nor did his physique.

Was good to see him congratulating the team as they came off yesterday, not something you'd expect from someone sulking from not playing.

Comparison of the new player's performances from the last 2 games.
    new_signings.png
All players improved certain aspects. Chalobah's and Gray's passing below par yesterday but other parts of their game more than made up for this. Hopefully they will have their shooting boots on next weekend. Femenia was immense. Richarlison was something else.

Troy didn't do enough on the pitch last year. Now he needs to prove he's still hungry to want to adapt to another formation which for the first time isn't built around him.

This is from a Bournemouth fan blog:
'We hate to do this, but Watford deserved a little credit for how well they played. They have a good manager who has them well organised and well disciplined. They all know their jobs and created plenty of chances. Thankfully, they didn’t take. We could have easily lost 4-1.'

Great start to the season. It looks like it was a good time to play them. Bournemouth's bubble seems to have burst, while we are reinventing ourselves.

Eddie Howe has this angelic halo above his head, but his teams are one of the dirtiest, cheating teams you'll ever come across. They do all the horrible things like diving for penalties and tripping players up off the ball. When I heard it was Arter who called "leave it" behind Chalobah's back it did not surprise me. They are a horrible little team, that no one has got wise to yet. Roger East's control of these antics was poor. Cook should have been booked for taking out Gray when Chalobah was through on goal. He would have had a simple square pass to Gray had Cook not done that, but no doubt all the pundits would be saying it was offside, had we scored.

Anyway, take nothing away from Watford's performance. All of our new signings are proving their worth. Chalobah is going to be a star. He's still quite raw, but is very involved all over the pitch. Richarlison looks amazing, and gives genuine quality on the left. He's one of those players that will get you off your seat in anticipation as soon as he gets the ball. Femenia had a much better game, which is more in line with what I expected from him.

I feel we've still to see the best of Gray, and his miss on half time was a bad one, but when it comes to strikers I always look and see the reaction. Does he still put himself in good positions or does he hide. Gray looks like he's confident, quick and strong and with big appetite for selfless runs. All very good attributes.

New players are raising the standard across the pitch. We're seeing the best from Cleverley in his advanced role and Doucoure has continued his end of season good form.

Silva is doing a fantastic job, he has galvanised the club already.

Not everything is rosy yet though. We still look vulnerable at crosses and we're struggling to defend corners. Far too often the opposition are getting their head to the ball.

Plenty to get excited about though, and it's good to show up the pundits as being clueless mugs.

One thing's for sure. You can see why reportedly Liverpool and Bournemouth were keen to block Richarlison from playing.

Watching the extended highlights, so many positives. Chalobah missed chances, but his overall play looked excellent. Richarlison looks like a potential 50m player. Gray is a great signing and gives us that other option up front.

Unfortunately i have to point out 2 glaring negatives. If Capoue and Amrabat play like that every week then I'll have nobody to boo.

Typical mum Malts, she knew her little boy would be sad.

So what does she do, she has a word with the big man up there and demanded that her little boys football team have a great win, as she knew it would cheer you up :)

    Sorry for your loss mate.

Yeah... i think AG was booked first for complaining that Cook hadnt been booked, and then the ref went to Cook and booked him. Both players carded which didnt really help us - a stupid yellow for us, and a good yellow for Muff as AG would have provided the simple square ball option for a tap in.

Must have been pretty bad dissent for Gray to get booked - complaining about something the ref obviously agreed with!

I have had my say before and l admit l was concerned about the team. We then sign Gray and Richarlison, all positive vibes.
I flew in for yesterday's game. A great game, great atmosphere from the Hornet fans, as always at Bournemouth.
The positive manner at the way we played was good to see. We reduced a poor looking B'mth side to chasing shadows.
The change in the body language of the players is evident. Every player celebrated when we scored. Last season that was not the case when they all seemed pissed off on the pitch .
They all that glitters is not gold. Let us hope it is Silva.

I noticed this too in both games this season. Last year the scorer would be lucky if 2 team mates came to congratulate him.

Richarlison did the old tapping the badge (not quite kissing it!) routine in front of our support before being clattered by Cleverley (as was Britos last week!)

These two seemed much happier than after their bust-up at the end of the Middlesbrough game last season:

    My thoughts on the match:

We are frigging ace. Absolute men against boys out there. Seeing our brave boys pouring forward in numbers and swamping Bournemouths feeble resistance had me twitching in my undercrackers. Joyous scenes.

Richarlison MOTM for me, but only because I love a sexy foreign with a bag of tricks. There were a number of contenders.

Which ****** was it who slagged off cleverley after Liverpool? Clearly a know-nothing terd who's never played the game beyond primary school level. This guy is a class act. The aching simpleton who suggested all he does is run around a lot owes the forum an apology. So, I apologise.

Holebas had a sublime game. I think he's one of the best left backs in the league, and I'm dead ******* serious.

The jury is still out on Gray....but I have a feeling he'll come good. The tatts dont help mind.

We need to find a way to accommodate capoue, but we have too many ace players who are undroppable. Plus we have pereyra to come back. I'm scared that our team is actually too good and that real Madrid are going to buy everyone.

That ground is an utter crap hole. It's an utter disgrace that our rolls royce team has to turn out at a place like that. Awful.

Good to see the prodl/britos axis of aceness back in form.

I cant remember the last time I looked forward to a league Cup defeat as I am this Tuesday. Even our second string are brill. I'm desperate to see success out there strutting his sexy stuff.

Come on you beautiful golden bastards!
