Great news. Was really hoping that we'd go for a dynamic young coach, and to get one with experience of the Premier League as well is an added bonus. Really looking forward to what he can do with this set of players.

I get the feeling, and hope, that it may be a very, very different set of players next season.

Copy and pasting what I wrote in the other thread!

Delighted with this, just feels like a step forward and acceptance from Gino that we couldn't bring in a 3rd man like QSF and WM. Every time I start to doubt Gino a little bit, he proves me completely wrong.

As for Silva, there seemed to be loads of positivity other than a few people who, to be totally honest, just sound like they're wanting to be different and buck the trend on here by finding faults in his time at Hull? Using the defeat as Sunderland to tarnish the job at Hull and then asking for Garry Monk is laughable as Leeds choked and missed out on the play-offs.

He's 39 years old which is great for a manager, I feel like we could be a huge chapter on his way to greatness, a bit like Pochettino at Southampton, that's what this feels like to me. He also speaks good English, has a record of more than 2 points per game at both Sporting and Olympiakos, both big clubs!

Can't see anything wrong with this appointment, Hull fans loved him, Hull dressing room loved him, Gino has got this absolutely spot on.

Welcome to Watford Marco, I am buzzing for the new season now!

Hasn't really done anything yet since he was appointed so the jury is out. First job will be getting Zuniga on the first plane back to Bolivia.

The thought of Pereyra or Success lashing in a goal on the counter actually makes me want to watch Watford again.

I've never seen him not wearing that thick overcoat with the collar turned up, Does he still wear it in the summer?

He seems to have had the choice of at least 3 clubs and has chosen us so I am pleased. Excellent to have gone with soomebody who already has Premier League experience. Well done Pozzos

Looking at social media, this has definitely caused the most bitterness from other team's supporters that I've ever seen.

It's certainly upset the media. I should image Matt Holland is smashing up the Talksport studio as we speak. Great stuff and two fingers to everyone outside of the Watford bubble right now.

Fails the QSF song test so colour me unconvinced. Having said that, I suppose you can make "Marco, Marco Silva" work instead of "Quique Sanchez Flores".

Some of the Palace fans on Twitter... sensational. V v happy with this appointment and can't believe he seems to have turned down Palace and Porto to join us.

Gut feeling is this is a terrific appointment. A young energetic charismatic head coach who has already won a league title, a cup and a promotion. And he knows our country and our league. Crikey he's even beaten Bournemouth, something neither of our last three coaches managed lol. I believe will transform the atmosphere around the club and that's worth a few points at least. Really pleased about this.

It is actually a typical Gino appointment too, except made 5 months late! I bet none of us had heard of him when he turned up at Hull.

    A little quiz question..

Who was the last manager we appointed before Silva who had beaten us in a match? (As a manager)

Instead of "hey ho silver lining" we can change it to "Marco Silva signing, everywhere we go, oh baby, I see the Hornets rising........it's so obvious. "

I didn't think he'd sign for WFC but he looks a decent choice right now.

A 2 year deal is vaguely interesting insomuch as it's a little less faith as shown in WM but not a 1 year rolling contract which is not so uncommon for a club our size.

I wonder if there are any caveats included in there such as new terms if performing well, no pay-off if performing so very badly or if a Champions League club comes sniffing we don't stand in his way.

Whatever the terms, welcome aboard Marco and I look forward to some quick passing, fluid movement and not avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth or any other body part! (Meaning we stay up and even finish top half rather than actually get relegated!!)

    In Pozzo We Trust.
