At last! Joseph Hungbo gets a much needed crack at 1st team football by joining National League side Aldershot Town on a 1-month youth loan. I just hope for his sake they play him on the right wing so he can do what he does best, cut in and shoot. Aldershot currently sit 12th, one place below Harry Forster's Bromley. Local sides Boreham Wood & Wealdstone are 13th & 2nd(!), respectively. Barnet (quite local) are 16th. https://www.watfordfc.com/news/transfers-hungbo-completes-aldershot-loan https://www.theshots.co.uk/new-signing-shots-sign-hungbo/
Alan Pardew appointed Technical Director at CSKA Sofia, a fellow compatriot to help Sinclair settle in.
Dahlberg doing really well in Sweden it seems Another great save today: https://twitter.com/Dplay_Sport/status/1333110304000122885 Also not a loanee but Suarez got off the mark for Granada today with a very well taken goal: https://streamja.com/nowzz
Is Suarez not technically a loanee at this stage Hacken just need a point on the last day of the season to secure a place in the new Europa Conference League, sounds like he's absolutely storming it there, I hope to see him back here soon enough!
With both keepers for the U23s today being trialists I thought there could be a chance one of Adam Parkes, Dante Baptiste or Myles Roberts would go out on loan. @LoanWatford has informed me Myles Roberts is still at Wingate & Finchley and will be there until at least January 3rd. He apparently did well on his initial youth 1 month loan so it's not too much of a surprise to see him signed up for a bit longer.
I did think of starting up as an academy scout and labelling myself as a 'Registered Kid Watcher', but something at the back of my head is telling me I need to put a bit more thought into it. I can't put my finger as to why though.
95th minute leveller for Cassidy away to Shrewsbury, his 4th for Accrington, 2nd in the league (1st in open play)
Ah, so it doesn't count as an open play goal technically then! Serves me right for just taking a quick look at the scores then!
A 0-0 draw on the last day of the season sees Pontus Dahlberg's Hacken qualify for Europe, well done to him
I've not been keeping track of the players out on loan but I did notice Harry Forster scored both Bromley goals last night in their FA Trophy win over Hemel Hempstead. I don't think he's been starting too often but two nice and very different finishes may help his cause. The goals come in the highlights below at 1' 35 and 2' 55.
No need yet, but maybe next season so Dahlberg can be No2 and ready to take over from Foster when he finally retires.
He’s only got 1 year left on his contract after this season, doesn’t he? If he isn’t number 1 next year he never will be.
Foster needs replacing sooner, rather than later. He’s a liability, and like most of our squad, no longer appears to have the hunger or desire to be anything more than the utter basic level of professionalism.
Dahlberg should have been the number two last season. Gomes is a really nice man and unlike some knows what it means to the fans but from a footballing point of view we should have been readying the youngster to take on the reins. Instead we messed him about again and had Bachmann as the third choice. Some scouts from various clubs have seen his ability and potential which we paid for. The aim being no doubt to move him on in a few years at a higher value as one of our safer bets. Not a bit of it. The deadwood in the team need to go.
At the start of January in the Academy/U23 thread, @The Voice of Reason asked for a list of players currently on Watford's books and I duly replied with post #2241. I listed Matheus Santana but asterisked him as Watford had said his latest move was a permanent one while his current side, Real Club Recreativo de Huelva, reported it as a loan. Well, Matheus himself has now said he's still contracted to Watford. https://huelva24.com/art/144170/matheus-santana-estoy-teniendo-mala-suerte Matheus Santana: "I'm having bad luck" "We need the three points as always and we always go out to win and we are also going to go there with that thought. We are going to give up our lives on the pitch against Tamaraceite," says the Albiazul midfielder. The Recre midfielder Matheus Santana, who has only been able to play 41 minutes this season spread over two games due to an injury and having suffered Covid-19, went through the press room today and stated that "against Las Palmas Atlético I had some minutes I felt fine but then I had to stand still for a few more days. I've already returned and I'm with the group and I'm fully recovered and always thinking positively." "I had two symptoms, smell and taste, and everything else was fine. I worked at home, although a bit bored being confined. It was my turn, I'm through it, and now I'm enjoying my teammates and training. It is not the same to train with the group than just on your floor but I have kept my physical shape and now I am trying to find my best level," added the Brazilian footballer. The Albiazul footballer, who is on loan from Watford, also stressed to the media that "I have contact with them because in Spain there are people of them who are closer to us and they always ask us why we are not enjoying minutes. I have told them that I have had the bad luck of the Covid of the injury and also that they have given me a lot of confidence to continue growing." Of the clash against Tamaraceite, with which the Dean will close the year on Sunday, Santana said that "it is one more league game, difficult like every weekend, and we face it as one more. We need the three points as always and We always go out to win and we are also going to go there with that thought. We are going to leave our lives in the field." "It is clear that we always have to improve, but football is like that and we played well but we did not win. We are conceding few goals and scoring points," commented the Brazilian of Recre's league career so far Compliments to your peers Lastly, he praised the players he competes with in the center of the field: "Dani Molina and José Antonio González are two very high-quality footballers and that is the virtue we have. I know I have to work a lot now to try to get into eleven. And there are also Moyano and Ponce, so we all have to be one hundred percent to be able to play." I've highlighted the interesting bits (not much, granted) as it also dispels the idea of some on here that players are sent out on loan and left to their own devices, seemingly abandoned by Watford.
Bayli Spencer-Adams has returned from his loan spell with Dover. http://www.doverathletic.com/news/defender-leaves-crabble-2/
Anyone know what’s happened to Cassidy? Is he injured or just way down the pecking order. Doesn’t appear on their bench anymore when I’ve been checking. I’m fairly sure I could find out for myself but yes I’m being a bit lazy....
Anyone heard anything about Djibri Touré? Hasn't even made the bench in any of Sporting Charlerois games
Jaime Alvarado is in the country and has been staying at Sopwell House. Not sure what our plan is with him now as when speaking to @reids before, it looked like he was below on the 15 points needed to be able play for us.
He seems to have become a decent player. I doubt he's anywhere near PL standard but maybe one of the better players out of the 543 we have around the world.
Interesting one - 22 years old, played a few games in Brazil's top division and seems to play quite regularly for the Colombia under age teams, including the Olympic qualifiers for the u23s. If he could get a work permit then one to keep in the back pocket to plug a gap in the squad if two central midfielders left on the last day of the transfer window...? Agree he probably won't be good enough though! Edit: seems he played most of the games in Brazil in their state championship rather than top flight.
Philips 94th minute goal and scoring a pen. Dapo assist. Dahlberg saving 3 pens to win them the shootout. Can we get this lot back and loan out some of the bums in our starting 11.
Good night for our loanees. Great seeing them finally loaned and playing at a decent level. Just need TDB, Hungbo, Pollock and few other youngsters to get a good loan.
TDB I expect hearing the news will be off on loan fairly soon, Hungbo is only just coming back to fitness so maybe might take a bit longer to find a loan, but I expect Pollock to stay as 5th choice CB, unless we bring in another CB
