Incredible that we immediately gave him another five year contract after the one short period that he actually showed some form in the autumn of 2018. It's almost like the club panicked...
I was looking at soccerbase, as I really cannot remember him playing for us! Last season he played 7 times, twice starting in the cup and 5 times as a sub in the PL. His most recent appearance was as a sub v Everton on 1/2/20. https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=75668&season_id=152 What is actually up with him? In this thread it never mentions what he was out injured for, when GD got his knee injury it was known. All we get from this guy is "back in training", "had set back", etc. People talk about Gray being a liability but I think Success trumps Gray in the waste of money stakes multiple times over.
Classic example of too much money too soon. He has zero hunger to play, but plenty of hunger for the good life, baileys and ladies of the night.
At least Gray has very occasionally produced the goods for us, Success has been one massive expensive ball of nothing for us! I think it was a ruptured Achilles he picked up? Can't remember when exactly, may have been during the downtime?
It's all about footballing environments and I don't think that Watford is a very good environment for Isaac Success. Can't be easy being at a club which doesn't want you and every transfer window they're looking to ship you out on loan - especially when you can see Andre Gray getting games and you're not.
Do we though? Been injured for the last 2 and he was in the squad last season. He’d probably be a good option if fit and we saw his true potential. I remember that Everton game. He came on v 10 men and hardly got the ball or fell over a lot.
Apart from a pulled muscle following the Spurs friendly Gray hasn't been injured, Gray obviously puts the effort in during training otherwise he wouldn't get picked to play. One thing is, you can't accuse Gray of is not putting an effort in, despite his poor performances.
He's been on one loan, hasn't he? Besides, Doucoure was almost out the door under Wally, but he buckled down and worked hard, Success could have done the same thing
According to Soccerbase in 2017/18 he made one appearance for us in the EFL cup at home to Bristol City, which was in the August. His next appearance was for Malaga in February 2018. He just seems to be continuously injured. I remember GT once saying that some players have a tendency to ignore knocks, not tell the physios and keep training and competing until it's impossible. On the flip side, there are those players who will cry off injured with next to nothing wrong with them. I remember him screaming at Ngonge during one match to keep going, who'd signalled that he wanted to come off. I suspect the Success is the latter of those types of player. I watched Ben Foster's video, he had a broken finger since the Rotherham match, yet kept going (he explains that it usually heals quickly), it was only after another 6 matches he was benched.
Think maybe him not living the life contributes to him getting injured all the time? Staying on the pitch despite being injured isn't a good thing anyway lol, as Foster and Kabasele are finding now
Wishful thinking but he could be what we need as a lone striker. He's far from perfect but can do Deeney's job of holding up the ball and he can run in behind. Ideally you could have Success through the middle which removes the need for Deeney and Gray on the pitch. Pedro, Sarr, Zinckernagel etc can then play some football hopefully. In reality we know Troy is never getting dropped but it might be an option for Head Coach no. 5 who should be appointed around April to try and get us into the playoffs.
I make you spot on. Our entire season is now balanced on his shoulders. It is just a shame he suffers from muscle imbalance.
First it was "we just need Capoue to come back and we'll be ace again!", then it was Hughes. Then it was Masina. And now it is Success. He is quite literally the last shred of hope we have left. Unfortunately for us, when the going gets tough, the tough neck a bottle of Bailey's and start polling brasses.
Things could barely have been worse if we had given Success a 20 game half season to see what he could do
The thing is, he's probably one of those players that isn't really good enough for the Premier League but should be able to rip up the Champio... Oh, I can't be bothered.
He literally cannot be or perform any worse than Deeney and Gray. If he's fit then just play him. We won't of course, because the entire team has to revolve around a fat, past it, arrogant **** head.
I've studied that photo intensely for the last 45 minutes and can confirm all his muscles appear to be perfectly balanced. Hallelujah!
I really don't know if Success has it in him to be a top Championship player these days, not least because he's not played in over a year, but we might only need him to be merely competent at this level seeing as we're still somehow in the promotion picture with surely the worst 2 strikers in the division. That said, it's all irrelevant now isn't it? He ain't getting a game ahead of the usual suspects is he?
Where you able to check on his mind. If so could you tell him should he ever play for us again not to keep falling over as it affects his body!
We have to give him a try at least, look what happened with Murray left to rot with us, and now playing well at NF
