The chip throwing was also an assault and although no excuse for the violent reaction it garnered, not long ago there was a story of a couple on a bus that asked a group to stop throwing chips at them which resulted in the couple being beaten up, they might have been stabbed. Fair enough say something if someone is being out of line, but this is a perfect example of things escalating out of proportion quickly.

 

More importantly was there sufficient salt and vinegar.

 

Vinegar is the devils urine.

 

Not on chips or a Salad dressing!

Interesting that someone throws a punch, (not in self defence), and gets a banning order from court, yet someone at the Cup Final gets threatened to "have their throat slit" whilst with their kids by someone who'd gone out of their way to track down that person and yet the club do nothing.

 

I suspect he had a chip on his shoulder. Ketchup would make that more likely as would aid adhesion.

 

He’s probably going to appeal, on the grounds that three years isn’t long enough.

He's just lobbed chips at a bunch of football fans then turned his back on them. What the hell was he expecting? A cuddle and a bunch of flowers? A playful pinch on the bottom perhaps?

 

Actually, you're right. He should have gone further and really ******* hurt the bloke. Maybe a group of them could have done it. Kicked him whilst on the floor and that. That'll teach him.

It says the Watford fan thought he threw chips not that he did. Considering how drunk the yobbo was it sounds like a pathetic attempt at mitigation.
This type of sucker punch can be extremely dangerous and some people on here acting like the Molineux Mix scumbags.

Watford guy should get banned for punching somebody no excuse

The person who told the group of football supports that they were drunk and then threw chips at them was literally asking for it (not that I condone him getting it), but what did he actually think was going to happen , did he really think they were going to thank him for the observation and the disappear quietly into the night.

 

You mean before or after he was verbally abused? Not sure, but I'd hazard a guess he didn't think he'd be attacked from behind.

Don’t think it mentions the crowd verbally abusing him before he approaches them , and just to be clear I still don’t condone anybody hitting anybody

If someone threw a chip at me for singing - at a football ground of all places, then that person would rightfully get a smack too.. Drunk or sober.

Punching from behind is cowardly though
