Punching someone seems an escalation on throwing a chip. Presumably by that logic the person that was punched would rightfully then be able use a blunt weapon or something?

Not condoning the bloke being punched but why on earth would you throw chips at some drunken bloke. Just doesn't seem the brightest thing to do

So a group of football fans have had a drink and are singing after a football game and this lad approaches them giving it the big one and throws chips at them and ends up getting a slap, then he runs to the old bill like a little b****.

...and just to be 100% clear, for this **** joke, I was thinking of Molly our regular poster rather than "wheelchair Molly" in the Ben Foster tweet.
I assumed this "ban" response was based on the poor quality of the joke, but the thought has just occured that you might have thought it was a bad taste reference....

Considering the circumstances, I don’t see how the Brighton fan could have imagined any other response? He’s thrown something (a piece of food in this case) at someone who was evidently drunk and singing. If that’s not asking for a response, I don’t know what is

Blunt weapons weren’t involved but if they were, it’s a completely different story. In my opinion, a punch is justified as his actions clearly asked for it. Rightly or wrongly, if you want trouble at the football, you’ll definitely get it
