When someone is a 'club legend' it seems you can't sat that he's no longer worthy of a place in the team, or the club would be better off with the transfer fee and his saved wages. Problem is people lack a bit of tact at times and chuck in semi-insults which, if taken seriously, can look disrespectful.

Let's be honest, nearly all of us do appreciate what he's done. He's still OK, but if he stays I'd like him to lose some bulk and work on his speed and agility, which I think would make him a better player. He's actually quite a good technical player, but seems to have decided (or maybe the manager has) that his whole game needs to be based on strength.

He's self confessed over 15 stone, which for someone who's around 183 cm, on the high side of healthy by normal standards, but for a footballer, massively overweight.

How much is muscle or fat is up for debate, but as his job is not lifting weights, he's in the wrong shape for his purpose.

Personally, I don't think as much of it is muscle as he likes to think.

He was awful last season as well, he's just not good enough anymore. Nobody is being disrespectful, just stating a widely held view. If you want to keep believing that Troy Deeney from 4 years ago is going to appear on the pitch then go ahead, it seems you're the snowflake for getting your knickers in a twist over this though. Oh and it's cojones.

That's not what I think a lot of people are saying. Certainly not what I think.

2 seasons ago there was a chance that he'd be getting into the England squad. Either by choice or injury he's started the last 2 seasons unfit. Troy is a club legend, no one is disputing that. The issue is he's better than the performances he's put in over the last season and a half and the decline isn't down to increased age.

You're in a small and shrinking minority which still believe this... the only way in which Deeney might help us get over the line quicker is from his belly sticking out further than his nose.

Considering he's having a new house built on the outskirts of Coventry I'd be astonished with a move to the depths of the North East. When he goes it will be somewhere closer to home.

Rather be sent to Coventry than Birmingham - what has happened there?

He's not going to Newcastle, they're not interested. He'll stay and will probably start on Saturday as well as Okaka will be at Torino by then and Gray can't play at home as there's less space for him. *sigh*

SkyBet have opened a market on him. West Brom favourites at 6/4.

The man himself has said the club are trying to sell him but he doesn't want to leave. Came from a mate of mine who had a chat with him at some event. He said this to a whole room of people during a talk, apparently seriously.

We had better have a couple of decent replacements lined up to replace him and the unfit Okaka. I really doubt we are going to be paying market price for a proven striker at this level.

West Brom wouldn’t be a bad move for him IMO, it’s local for him and they are very likely to go down. It wont affect him money wise as he’ll sign a decent enough contract anyway and he can then naturally drop down the championship and be a club hero because he'll be able to perform at that level.

West Brom have bid €5m for Hugo Rodellega. Firstly, what a pathetic shower of ***** that club are, how can you be in the Premier League for as long as they have and end up with the squad they have?

Secondly, the only way they'll have money to buy Deeney is if they flog Evans this month.

I know decent strikers are hard to come by, but surely it can't be that difficult to find one better than Gray or Deeney, and capable of playing more minutes than Okaka without being close to collapsing.

I'm sure we can find one but will he want to come and will Gino stump up the ££££s required to bring in someone who we can be confident will score goals at this level ?

Their owner must be rolling in the £££, they've spent less than us since we've been promoted, incredible really.
