Maybe. You do have a point about anecdotal evidence.
but it is a form of evidence.

When a vet says they aren't acting sensibly I take notice of that. At work we have had 3 dealings with the RSPCA in the last 2 years asking for help and input all were refused.
Also what isn't anecdotal, but a matter of record is how they spend their money.
They have at least 3 people earning over £120k a year.
They spend lots of money on lawsuits against groups hunting foxes.

Some might not agree that is a good use of their money. I am one of them.
Id prefer they had more people in vans responding to animals in distress.

You should have just killed it as it's a Canada Goose and on a general licence. It's been reported that the breast meat minced is good in burgers and bolognaise type pasta sauces,

22.5 Million in legal fees over 2 years (2013-2014). Money for Lawyers is not what I expect of them. I accept they have to prosecute people but this seems excessive.
£325,000 spent prosecuting the Heythorp Hunt alone! With barristers acting for them getting £800-1200 a day (higher than the fee in child prosecution cases) A CPS lawyer would be what £300 a day? Why not hand them over to the police.

They are too politicised in my opinion based on what I know about them.
When help has been requested of them they haven't responded

They did rescue Meister's goose though.

TBF, hunting foxes with hounds is against the law.

So if they were ordered to pay only £19.5K in costs - how does this equate to £327k?

So let the police handle it.

As I posted, they are not perfect but the good outweighs the bad.

I'm not a big fan of foxes, but what would you do if you saw a bunch of (dare I say it) chavs, torturing a fox with the help their bull terriers. I suspect you might want something done about it.

How is the good better than the bad - what is the evidence for good deeds? or more precisely why wouldn't I donate my money to a charity in animal welfare that doesn't pay big wages or lobby politically?

Their behaviour in this example and the one posted by Optimistic was pretty crappy though wasn't it? Especially as they used the contact information to try to get money. Unless of course you think I've made this yarn up!

Imagine the calling the fire brigade and getting a similar response!

    'I can smell burning'
    'Can you see fire'
'No but it's a very strong smell and there's an alarm beeping'
'Hmmm, go in and have a look around'
'I'm a bit worried, can you come out'
'Oh no, we don't do that until you're sure the building is on fire'

Then they come around rattling the Christmas tip tin!

"If a wing in full span and velocity were to hit a weak-boned person (such as a child or an elderly person) then it is theoretically possible. In reality it is almost unheard of and is never used as a form of attack as swans are a defensive bird. The only time they become aggressive is when they are protecting their nesting ground or cygnets when they will chase off intruders, be they other swans, geese or humans who get too close."

Well that's a load of rubbish ...they also get aggressive when you punch them for nicking your bait

What about the BBC article then? That evil swan killed a man who was actually protecting it from the even more evil geese.

Secondly, swan vs badger. Who wins?

Slightly different scenario but I'm not going to argue. I just happen to think that the RSPCA is a good charity, while you don't. I never think people make up anecdotes; I just think they're not worth basing my opinion on.

My son asks me a couple of these questions every single day. "What would win daddy, a scorpion or a lobster?" "Lobster because it has a hard shell". "Nope it's an electric scorpion". He's 4.

Agree. Happened to me on Friday between tube lines. Guy in front just stopped dead for no reason and without warning and I pretty much mounted him.

    Ying and yang.

Last night went out to a party so took enough cash for me and Mrs Diamond to drink merrily. Got there and it was a free bar!
Got home and Mrs Diamond dropped her phone down the toilet!
