Man leaves job at end of contract.

In other news bear defacates in woods, Pope in Catholic shocker and Murdoch in Beelzebub probe.

This could be for one of two reasons I can think of:

    1. Gino knows someone who he thinks will be better for the job, perhaps who has had a wider range of experience at this level.
    2. Gino is doing away with the 'Director of Football/Sporting Director' role, and handing more power over to Marco.

Reckon it's the first one. That all being said, what's happening, if anything, with the CEO role? Is Duxbury still doing both roles? Did we bring anyone else in?

EDIT: Just seen the article on the website. It appears to be a mutual thing. What motivated this is entirely speculative, I suppose.

Definitely the 1st. I think the Director of Football / Coach combo works really well now. And it's not like Silva doesn't get a say. It's a case of the manager says what he needs, DoF gives him some options (that maybe the coach hadn't thought of) and Silva picks the ones he likes.

Brings a bit more focus and strategy. This actually has me excited, I bet the Pozzo's bring in someone banging.

I see this as no loss at all

Anyone who is responsible for player recruitment and leaves us with an insufficient number of players (versus the premier league quota) at the end of successive transfer windows has not done their job as far as I'm concerned.

This isn't the conference it's the premier league. Not having enough players last year left us dangerously close to relegation once the impact of several injuries kicked in

Only in this transfer window have we finally brought in some decent english players. Seems odd timing before transfer window has closed and we finally appear to be getting a more balanced group of signings.

Actually Dowling suggests he was offered an extension but chose to look for new projects.

I misread this as Duxberry, and almost choked on my water.

It sounds like we didn't want to keep him.

Its because after his GCSE results come in, hes hoping to take a Gap Year so as to teach some 3rd World people how to farm .

Then its his A levels and then hopefully Uni to study Business Studies.

The club wish him the best for his future studies and thank him for all the filing he did on his job placement scheme.

Bit bizarre the club summarise that as a mutual decision.

Perhaps Gino made him an underwhelming offer he could easily refuse.

With recent talk of the Pozzo scouting network, the taking of Richarlison, and Dowlings knowledge of the inner workings and Gino's methods, I fancy he'll do alright as a consultant for a few years.

We move on, until recently with Hughes I'm not really sure he fulfilled his brief. Wasn't he meant to uncover home grown players or have I made that up?

So I'm going to apply to be his successor, then just read this forum every morning with my coffee I'll think I'll keep my job as long as Marco improves the players this forum recommends

    I think you're correct.
I seem to vaguely remember Dowling being touted (or quoted) as having a good knowledge of English/British players.

We should be able to tell who his forum alter ego was by the drop off in post frequency.

My money is on RC .

    Dux is Mr Lizard.

    Gino ? Not sure .

Having exclusive access to the worlds biggest, widest, best etc etc scouting network in the world and yet in 3 years his managed to bring in a pretty average squad of under achievers

Bring back Ross Wilson or go get Steve Walsh

Absolutely no chance with either. Wilson is onto a good thing at Southampton and Walsh will be on mega bucks having just started his new project with Everton.

Yes, I'm sure they enjoyed playing under Flores - after half the season (by which time relegation had (all but) been avoided) the players were allowed to stop playing.

Flores ****ed it with a christmas curfew and wife ban at the grove. Then he went out with his wife whilst the players were under curfew, hence he lost the dressing room.

There were 11 players I’m sure who enjoyed playing under QSF - the same 11 who played every week. The rest? I’m not so sure.

Dowling left because Giraldi does the same job. He won’t be replaced. Or missed I suspect.
