Genuine question because I'm curious. Yes it's frustrating seeing this same old sterile formation, but I'm really not convinced that under anyone else we'd be ripping it up given the unbalanced squad we have. Anyone in particular you guys want, or are you just shouting into the wind?

Championship knowledgeable manager, can motivate players and get a working system.

    Joka or Zola.

Someone who actually knows more than one formation and won't have us playing football that makes QSF look like some sort of attacking mastermind.

How many of our managers have been tactically flexible? Most have had the same issues!

Joka is about the only one. Maybe JG too

Seeing as Gracia didn't play Sarr despite him being far better than any of the alternatives because he didn't rigidly fit into his formation, I wouldn't say he's the most tactically flexible

We've sacked far too many Head Coaches to get anyone decent in, especially as we are now Championship.

It doesn't matter who is appointed manager, the problem at the club is much deeper than that. President Harry S Truman had a sign on his desk saying "The Buck Stops Here" meaning that ultimately the responsibility for the US Government was his and his alone. So what we are reflects on Gino and how he works.

So my choice is Gino, make him the manager.
Let him work with the shower of **** of a squad he's left the manager with.
Let him deal with the consequences of his own failures to improve the areas of the squad that have been crying out for improvement.
Let him motivate a toxic dressing room that he has indulged over his time in charge.
Let the players and Giraldi undermine him for a change.
Let him explain to a talented young player that while Watford signed him he will never play here but will be farmed around Europe on six month loans while their development stagnates and a potential career dies.
Let him come out after an abject display and explain why the team he picked, from the squad he assembled couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

Why o why would anyone good or ambitious want to manage us.
What sign would Gino have on his desk? Best scouting network ever perhaps, or that ever useful bull about "Lessons will be Learned" Certainly not "The Buck Stops Here"

Fair point. So iirc Zola stuck rigidly to 3-5-2, Silva and Wally to 4-3-3 and QSF to 4-4-2/4-6-0. Can't recall the others, but being tactically inflexible seems par for the course.

Edit. Actually I meant to type JOKA but subconsciously typed QSF, make of that what you will.

Possibly. He also put 2 GKs on the bench iirc.

So, apart from Joka, have we had any managers who are tactically flexible in the Pozzo era?

I thought putting Chalobang and then Capoue at centre half was pretty much in the same league as that move.

I’d take the Vladimir Ivic we were promised, rather than this constipated inflexible version.

John Eustace, currently assistant manager at QPR. He knows the club, the league, has a growing reputation, liked but most importantly respected by players and fans.

I was hopeful when he was appointed. He did manage teams in inferior leagues, but his teams scored goals.
What has happened to his attacking philosophy? We now have this turgid defensive style football. The players seem to lack any drive and play at such a slow pace. Team find it easy to play against us as they know the chances of us scoring are slim due to the formation of the team.
Ivic will be gone if we lose the next two games.

There will be a point, after we have sacked our 50th manager, that we realise perhaps it’s not the fault of the manager

    Give it to Duxbury.
It will be the quickest way to finally get rid of him.
