Thanks, very helpful. So we could theoretically have a cup final between Barnet and Chelsea where we’d want Chelsea to win, the tbought of which makes me feel nauseous.

If Man City win the champions league does that make any difference? What if Arsenal or Chelsea finish in the top 4 and win the Europa league?

Isn't there a cap now on the maximum number of clubs any one country can have across the Champions League and Europa League?

EDIT: I'm pretty sure it's limited to 7.

In 2005 there was a special dispensation for Liverpool (surprise, surprise) after they won the Champions League but didn’t qualify for the next season the normal way. UEFA agreed it was odd to not let them defend it. I don’t know if some other English team missed out (unlikely) or if this is now a UEFA rule.

I think UEA_Hornet is probably right. Two years ago Man Utd won the Europa League and finished 6th in the PL, so the following season England had 5 teams in the ECL but only 2 in the Europa League.

Chelsea v Utd as well so another biggy going out. Also Chelsea are the only PL team drawn at home I believe.

    Pompey/QPR away.

Not bad but tricky as they will be up for it.

Chelsea v Man U means this cup is wide open - to be runners up to Man City anyway.

That's the most important draw. Get through this round and a really good chance of not drawing a big team.

    Hopefully Pompey.

Not the home tie we wanted but a decent draw. Long trip up north avoided, a good chance of progressing, and maximum chance of pundits being offended by our line up.

Play up Pompey or the Super hoops.

Only grumble it's yet another away draw, but at least we avoided the three big boys, and there's a guarantee United or Chelsea will be out in the 6th round.

Trouble with that is there are not so many sides capable of beating City left in the draw. Hopefully if we get though United and City can have their Manchester derby in the QF and we can sneak through unnoticed.

Great chance to get through. Really no need to make wholesale changes for this one. A whole week to prepare. Maybe Quina or Wilmot but let’s just get through. COYH

I quite like this away draw thing, it’s shaping up to be a good story, let’s say we get through and get yet another away draw, then nobody could say we had an easy run.

Javi would make 15 changes if he could. No chance of seeing anything other than the reserves for this type of opponent.

I'm fairly sure when Man Utd did it in 1990 it was said at the time that they were the first to do it

    Yep.

And that's fair enough. I know its not a popular opinion on here but those players who played on Saturday have earned another go at such opposition. I see that as measured and decent management of the squad. And there's every chance that with some rotation in the next few weeks, which I think is quite likely, it may be a different set of 'reserves' by then. For instance, if they don't recover for the next couple of games, we could see the likes of Doucoure and Femenia involved - reserves or just a talented squad? I think if we get to the Quarter Finals, the manager will take a different approach from that point on. But I fully back him in the way he's gone about it so far...because the results back it up.

I'd rather QPR in all honesty.

Shame its away, but happy with that

Neither will roll over, but we should have enough if our attitude is right

With a bit of luck City draw Utd / Chelsea in the 1/4s

The route to the semi-final is wide open for us I think. We want QPR right, big away crowd.

I reckon Pompey would be better to play against. They'll be a tough side but they're also focussed on winning their league over Lut** and Sunderland . I'm not sure if they're confident they could handle both league and FA cup games

Another disappointing draw meaning we have a good chance of winning with several useless players like Gray, out-of-position Will Hughes and Isaac Success.

I was hoping to get City away so we could get hammered and I could tell you all 'told you so' with my great footballing knowledge.

I hope Chris Sutton is right this time and the changes we make cost us the game. That means he'd have been right 50% of the time, every time. That's statistics.

Great draw that, bring it on. Chelsea v United is also great for us.

Pompey away preferable if it's a decent kick off time. I imagine we'll get picked for TV as most of those ties are pretty dull.

City avoiding tough fixtures en route to another final.

I actually wouldn't have minded getting them in this round, at least at the Vic. They have a tough run of games in February including the League Cup final, Manchester derby and the Champions League.

I don't fancy beating them on neutral ground which it's looking like we or whoever reaches the final will have to.

They're also still in the Auto Windscreens Paintpot Checkatrade Trophy too.

Does Kenny have it in his heart to put us out of the cup?

To be fair our 2nd string have been away in all 4 Cup games this season and have been very good.

Less chance of a park-the-bus approach which gives our boys a bit more room to show the quality.

    BRING IT ON
