Can you imagine if Howe moves to Saints from Muff. It would have been like God moving to them up the road...
Silva won't be taking a job any time soon - he is still negotiating a settlement / threatening legal action so if he took a job that would finish that option.
Jobs for the boys eh? And the media blame the lack of young coaches getting a chance just on overseas coaches being appointed.
Surprising appointment, known for years for a quality passing game and they go and hand the steering wheel over to a football dinosaur It isn't going to end well even if they survive this year...
I'm sure Mark's cheery demeanour will enthuse the Saints fans no end! I agree though, not sure who I expected but Hughes wouldn't inspire me unless they're going to moan their way out of trouble?
If Hughes takes Saints down after butchering Stoke then surely that is him finished as a premier league coach (as well as Pardew).
It gives the West Ham players something to think about and build themselves up for while the sun themselves in Miami ...
I would imagine if he keeps them up they would feel duty bound to give him a contract, would be good for us as would mean only have to concern ourselves about another two teams to go down next year!
Much as I can't stand the guy he actually has a pretty good track record at Blackburn, Fulham, and Stoke until this season. He was unlucky at Man C and just plain poor at QPR ! Can't stand the whining git though !
Much as I would love Palace and West Ham to join WBA, I think the two relegation places still available will go to Stoke and Southampton - which will look good on Hughes's CV
I think WBA, Stoke, Huddersfield. I'm sure if Soton are the 3rd, it will be put down to Hughes appointment being "too late to have a chance to save them"
All looks like panic to me. They presumably hope he will instil some guts and fight in the side and some organisation and direction. They've left it really late, though. The teams who are left with a fixture against Southampton must be looking forward to Stoke marque 2!
I hope Huddersfield stay up but them failing to beat Swansea could be costly. I think Stoke will be ok, they've tightened up the defence and have been unlucky in some games. I think Palace will survive due to Zaha, they've had their horrible run. West Brom Southampton West Ham
Stoke, Palace and West Brom is the ideal scenario. Stoke and West Brom have had years of Premier League money and have ended up with squads including players such as Charlie Adam, Darren Fletcher, Jake Livermore and Gareth Barry while playing a horrible brand of 80s, physical, time-wasting football. The fact that they have turned to Paul Lambert and Alan Pardew this season is embarrassing, honestly, so embarrassing. And Palace going down would just be ******* hilarious. Especially if it's on the last day and Zaha cries.
Maybe a booking for a last minute "dive" which turned out to be a genuine foul, when a converted penalty would have kept them up ?
I'd rather the likes of WBA, Palace and Stoke stay up - always confident of getting points when we play them, I'd like to see Southampton go down as they'll bounce back next season, if Wolves could **** up their promotion campaign as well that would be great considering the money and links they have.
Is that a whoosh? We've managed 4 points out of a possible 18 since promotion v Stoke and all of those points were away from home. If I had my way I would just relegate Palace 3 times.
And our record against the other two isn't great either, we've only beaten West Brom of late because they've been worse than us (OK they finished above us last season, but their decline had already set in and they finished the season in even worse form than us).
Looking at the Championship table, if I had my way I'd just cancel promotion/relegation for this season - just to annoy Wolves and Cardiff.
Ha, can you imagine, live TV images of Warnock spontaneously combusting, just getting more and more red and agitated before bursting into flames. Wolves would deserve it, horrible club and supporters, didn't deserve GT.
After yesterday's results: WBA, Stoke and Huddersfield or Southampton. Could be quite a boring final day with the relegation places all decided beforehand.
Still really hoping one place is for West Ham. I loved the bit in the Brady statement yesterday where she said they would give the manager autonomy over transfers. This is simply to make them easier to sack in future, while absolving the board from blame if they sign rubbish players.
And Lady Brady’s apology to the supporters was posted on the club website? No. In an email to registered fans? No. In her column in the Sun! I’m not sure that would be Scott’s mod op.
I want Palace to stay up because it's the only real mini rivalry we have from current history in this division. People trying to force this awful attempt at a muff rivalry which is cringeworthy at best after all they did was beat us to a title WE threw away. At least there is a bit of history with AJ diving, Zaha, Holloway, every game in recent history has had incidents and a play off final.
West Brom, Stoke and one from Southampton, Huddersfield and (please, please, please let it be them) West Ham.
They always seems to get one over us though, which is very frustrating. Our team seem to just melt in their presence.
