For me, I believe we still need a striker. Personally would love to see Iggy back, highly unlikely though. Outs Zeeglaar Britos Kaboul Okaka. Haven't a clue why we signed Ken Sema, doesn't seem up to scratch. What's going on with Penaranda? Maybe loan those two out and sign up another winger?
We signed Sema because we got him for £1m. He’s clearly a much better player than £1m so it was a good signing financially. However, he needs to get better to force his way into the side, but I’ve seen good things from him in small patches. Certainly worth a punt on.
He only has to have a few half decent substitute appearances and a flukey goal, enough for a highlights video, and we can sell him for 5 mill to the next desperate team who gets promoted next season.
Zeegelaar, Britos and Okaka will be gone. Kabouls not even in the squad so makes no difference I think we'll get at least one experienced centre back, one versatile defender and another experienced forward. Get the right players this January and there is very little business that needs to be done in the summer
I agree, this is what we need to do, just to ensure Watford become a solid Premier League team, however, our biggest problem after that will be keeping this team together. As soon as one of our players puts in a few good performances then the vultures swoop.
We couldn’t shift Zeegalaar and Okaka in the summer so don’t see why we would be able to shift them in January. The extension of the Britos contract was idiotic and just drains our cash. He is valueless.
The only business we need to be doing in January is extending the contracts of Britos, Prodl, Jolebas, Kaboul and Okaka. Why waste money, gambling on new players instead of tying down our experienced pros to 10 year deals?
I just want to see some of the useless crap finally heading out of the door. The fact that the likes of Britos, Okaka and Kaboul still have any association with our club pains me.
You forgot to mention a new 10 year deal for Sinclair. Just think how much we’ll make on loan fees in all that time.
Coupled with the Call My Bluff box set to help him build convincing random information. I do miss Kelso though, a bit concerned he may have taken on one adventure too many.
I certainly hope with the classic line up of Fwank Muir & P,p,p,p,p,per, per, per,p, the 3rd Barin Glenavy.
The bottle fighting episode in a Buenos Aires brothel was pure Hemingway. (Or was it chair legs in a restaurant?) Either way.
He’s currently trying to negotiate the Brexit agreement, before heading across the pond to push through gun control legislation. He’d have done both already if he wasn’t so busy ending sex-trafficking in Europe by taking all of the horny euro chicks into his own home. At least, that’s what I heard from ITK types.
Safe to say at the time of writing we're in a bit of a rut and some fresh faces could really help fix that. I believe the summer transfer window was an absolute shocker. Masina - Back up to Holebas Navarro - Back up to Femenia who is the back up to Janmaat. Clearly not good enough. Ken Sema - Absolute trash in his cameos Ben Foster - Smart signing if not absolutely necessary but no complaints. Quina & Wilmot aren't instant first team signings so I don't count them. We obviously need a striker but they're not easy to find, I think Kabasele needs a partner and Cathcart is used as rotation. Penaranda should add to wingers depth so we're covered there. Bradley Dack would be amazing but £20 million might be a bit much. Dominic Solanke on loan might be decent if we're scrapping the barrel but he's not prolific? Andreas Pereira contract is up in the summer he might be available on the cheap? I've heard he's really highly thought of. I don't want too much European football but must be some good options out there!? Prodl, Britos & Okaka all out for starters, please! Let's get some fresh blood through the doors man, same stagnation every year, the same lingering poisonous atmosphere which I believe comes from journeymen players on a downward trajectory. Need some enthusiasm around the place!!
You rightly point out that we need a striker... so you suggest we sign an attacking midfielder from the Championship for £20mil, a player who has scored 1 goal in 21 PL appearances and would struggle to even make our bench, and a centre-mid who'll go to at least a Europa League-level club, e.g. Arsenal or Valencia. Good one!
It’s unlikely we go down so I think we don’t bring in anybody and focus on shifting the atrocious Deeney, Gray, Okaka and Prodl all of whom swallow lots of salary budget. This will give us flexibility in the summer if we can get rid of 1 or 2 of them. Then make do with Success, Peneranda, Delou, new Serbian bloke and whichever dud is left. Shifting these awful players should be the prime objective.
Duxbury said at the recent At Your Place he wasn't anticipating much activity so can,t see wholesale changes.
That Origi bloke who got the winner for Liverpool against "The Snakes" team last week, might be an option as he was supposedly on our radar in the last window, and a cheeky bid for that youngster Hudson - Odoi at Chelsea could also be a good idea as he wants 1st team football and as Chelsea won't guarantee it for him so he is stalling on a new contract, maybe Chalobah could have a word in his shell like
I agree. Ideally we want a striker who we can be confident of getting 10-15 goals a season at least. Those strikers aren’t available in January and if they are, they aren’t in our price range. The club will be thinking Penaranda is essentially a new striker. If we can get one thing in January, I’d like to see us bring in a player with natural leadership qualities. Have him around the squad for 6 months and then hand him the armband in the summer.
Well lets hope he is fit soon and this "small foot problem" isn't a long term one. I doubt any of our current strikers will leave tbh - Okaka always seems to be linked with a move anyway but nothing happens. Unless Gray kicks up a fuss about being 4th choice.
I think he was referring to the other Jesus - the non-footballing one who raised people from the dead. Perhaps he could repeat his trick with Lazarus, who was a handy goal-scoring winger back in the 60s...
I've heard from a very reliable source we're looking to sign this center back in January. Fido from Argentina. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/46453844
