I've only got to one match so far this season and was hoping to attend this one.

The only one I saw to date?

    Southampton (H).

    Great.

Thanks a bundle Gary Mabbutt and your unlucky knee.

Sorry but he really was not brilliant - he spilled quite a few relatively simple shots including one he could have scored an own goal from, and his kicking was weak and aimless.

Just our luck to draw the team who are currently on the longest unbeaten run of anybody left in the cup.

They’ve not lost since September, 18 matches ago.

A very difficult draw, and as others have already said not much fun getting somebody from your own division.

That said, you quite often find when the teams from the same league draw each other in the cup, it’s the lower ranked side that triumphs. So I think we do have a slight chance, and they might be more focussed on their promotion push whereas we can give it a 100% go.

Tough draw for my tip for the cup too, but hopefully they meet the iffy Chelsea rather than the one capable of being decent.

Yes we do - ours is the first one listed, just below the photo of the cup.

I think they're listed in the order in which they were pulled out the hat. There's just some website links for some reason inserted between ours and the rest.

A trip to the cobblers! A great reward for our accomplished vanquishing of Mansfield on Saturday.

We definitely played a team closer to our first XI at the weekend, but that's not to say our team was stronger, I'd never heard of their kids they put in their lineup, but a lot of their backups are pretty recognisable names

Exciting draw. Should be a good game, hopefully Sky pick it for TV coverage. A proper 50/50.

We'd be at greater risk playing a team that hadn't won for 3 months.

Considering it's his first season starting at a professional level I thought he gave a good account of himself, maybe I did overrate him last night, but he certainly looks one to watch, have seen quite a bit of L1 level football this season and the quality of kicking at that level is dire so that element was probably to be expected and it was more that he was managing to keep up with the sheer volume of shots United got on target

That’s true but at the risk of being pedantic, they’d have needed their 3rd round opponents to have fielded an ineligible player or something for us to then meet them in the 4th round!

Sheffield Wednesday game has been moved to mid-week. Ideally we rest players for the league.

Hopefully a run out for all our new signings (assuming they aren't cup-tied after appearing for their top 10 prem clubs in the 3rd round).

Does anyone know whether the game will be available on Hive Live as it’s not on the telly? (and not at 3pm on a Saturday)

It's probably going to be on Hive Live, but it's not scheduled for live TV. Worst case senario 3CR might pick it up or if you can access it, BBC Radio Solent will have the comms from a Southampton point of view.

Remembering the semi final at Villa Park against that lot - we showed them too much respect. We took too long to believe in ourselves and Gayle deservedly scored but it was too late.

I'm not going to this, I'd rather not waste money watching Southampton go 1-0 up and time waste for the whole second half.

I'm going up to Ipswich for the Maidstone game instead. Far more interesting.

Plus one of their goals should have been ruled out for a foul!

Would of been Arsenal in the final had we won. Have to imagine they would of beaten us, however they were pretty poor against Southampton if memory serves. Decent game that day at Villa though as you say. I thought we played some nice football but just didn't seem to press them enough.

Anyone bothered if we go out on Sunday? I mean the odds on us beating a side on the longest unbeaten side in their history and scoring for fun is pretty slim. However, I didn't expect us to win at Arsenal that day and we did, causing quite the upset. VI (should) will make wholesale changes so whatever we put out will be easily put easily put to sword unless Southampton field a weakened side.

Magic of the top six cup and all that. So you never know.

I think we might win this one. For Southampton it’s all about a top two place. I’m sure they will field a strong team, but not their strongest team. We have little choice but to play our strongest team, as all our players are of a similar level.

We should have beaten them in the league, and their 21-match unbeaten run has to end some time.

Not really sure we can field much of a weakened side with the players that are unavailable or have left and doubt Ismael will chuck a load of u23s in. He's played strong sides in both cup games so far this season.

Exactly, and we’re playing Southampton for phuck sakes. Hardly an insurmountable challenge.

Not insurmountable, of course, but Southampton haven’t lost since Sept 23. The current longest unbeaten run in English football, I believe.

Win this then get a mid week trip to Liverpool or Man C knowing us as the 5th round is then rather than at a weekend .
