Absolute carnage throughout! Even Windies when all out for 190 had 5 overs left!. Shame it was on TNT sports which I don't have
You bet. Siraj 6-15 and then India lose their last 6 wickets for zero runs in 11 balls !!! "Six batters were out for a duck in India's innings - and it was the first time a team has lost six wickets without scoring a run in Test history." per BBC
Stunning innings in the context of the match. Next highest batsman in the other 8 wickets so far got 12 !
I wonder if an England test series has ever mattered less than this one. TV deal left to the last minute and on a channel that hardly anyone has, the ghost of the horrific umpiring of recent series in India looming large, players going home, questionable fitness of the captain, pointlessly taking Anderson to spin central. Meh.
I'm so old that every test series was important and that a test defeat was treated like a death of a monarch. Today .....it is different....old fart signing off
3 spinners picked and just one fast bowler . Let’s hope it does spin as expected then and Mark Wood can hold up fitness wise all game . https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/68078567
Still, I love a new spinner in Hartley and looking forward to seeing Ahmed and whether he really is the future. Bit more interested than I was. Baz and Stokes seem to draw me back in whatever the scenario.
I kind of get the one seamer option although not happened since 1962! If you play Wood and Anderson and the pitch play as expected they will end up bowling half a dozen overs each and not worth pick another seamer just to open the bowling. Not sure who will open the bowling though
What are Hartley & Ahmed like with the bat ? Are either all-rounders ? If not, could be a very long tail ?
First class batting of averages of around 29-30 so pretty good but not played that many matches. I think Ahmed especially is supposed to be useful
