Well my opinion is superior. Just as yours is to you. Can’t you see that?. You are dismissing my views because you are convinced by stats, metrics and xG’s and your own take. It hurts your brain because you don’t subscribe to what I’m saying. But by promoting your view you are doing exactly the same as me. Promoting your view as being superior to mine……which is perfectly fine. It’s your view, and you think you’re correct, just as I do with my views and opinions. I’m not going to post views I don’t believe in, just as you don’t post views you don’t believe in. I’m totally right……and you are totally right….because these are our own personal honest opinions.
I'd rather take the Hb1 index over the Xg index. Sound more legit. When the Xg index gives you a nonsense 0.46 type figure (you can't score half a goal mate) the Hb generalisation of "what one sees with eyes" ranking works much better. I can see sky TV using it from next season. Looking forward to reading the rest of this thread very much.
Who was Gino with at the game today? Someone posted something like “guess who Gino was with today” then didn’t answer his own question. Not sure if it was just a joke or he was actually with someone interesting.
Firstly, I'd like to start with an apology... There must have been a Matrix-type glitch in the pub in Sheffield where I watched the game, because I thought it went along these lines: We won 2-1 away from home Livermore scored two wonderful goals Our support was fantastic Applause on the 30th minutes from both sets of fans for Daniel. BWL to his family and friends Some of our players often fluffed their lines, but their heads never dropped for a moment We have a depleted squad atm Hamer, I could hug you. Please may I have either your shirt or your children? Livermore's incredible modesty and humility The Andrews' penalty box tackle Rajovic working his socks off to try and get us back in possession of the ball Pollock screaming at his teammates to dig deep again Somehow surviving seven minutes of added on time, totally on the ropes Moving up to 8th, one point off the play-offs Once again remembering why, in my 68th year, I still fcuking love this club!!! And so much more... Secondly: Keep the Faith Why wouldn't you?? SCG
xG technically doesn’t show how many goals should have been scored by each team. It shows how many shots should have been scored by the average shot taker vs the average keeper I.e. the quality of chances. Some players for example consistently over and under perform xG, although over a season, most variance evens itself out except with statistical outliers (like having Son, Haaland or Steve Kabba in your team). To say the eye test is better than xG at gleaning the quality of chances is silly though. All top clubs rely on it. Rather, the eye test (and other stats) are used to counter the weakness of the stat, such as the quality of an opportunity where a shot was never taken.
Fair enough. Chak does and did make mistakes, but I was so baffled by the team’s lack of attacking purpose today, especially in the first half, that I appreciated somebody (anybody!) who was prepared to try and take the ball forwards into the opposition half.
Was in the Upper Tier and only one refreshment booth open AND £12:65 for 2 bottles of water and a cup of PG Tips !!!. Not our greatest performance but this bunch have something about them, turning games on their head or winning ugly which is never a bad thing and nor is scoring late goals and we seem to be good at this . Livermore was excellent as was Hamer and would a cheeky bid for Armstrong be out of order given QPR are seriously skint .
Some of our fans are bizarrely desperate for us to lose to prove their own points… Pretty poor performance but as others have said we were without arguably 6 first team players (Bayo, Kone, Kayembe, Sema, Lewis & Porteous probably start if fully fit/available). Grinding out away wins despite this can only be a positive. We lose that last season. Slightly disappointing but I think Healy has shown why he’s been 3rd choice. Pretty terrible today to back up being terrible last week.
I like you Reid and personally I think you’re by far the best poster on this forum, but you do need to work on your tolerance of other opinions. XG’s are not the be all and end all of everything. There is room for people who watch the games to make their own mind up on what they’ve witnessed without having the metrics swaying them into a different direction.
Followed the game on the radio on my way to the club. Followed the second half at changes of ends thanks to a friend's updates. Sounds fortunate in many respects but gritty. I'll take gritty!
Just incase it still isn't obvious for some reason, here's a transcript of the post by ProfessorAbdi; Patrick McNicholas: Just walked past Gino Pozzo at the game today and you will not believe who his plus one was ... Jack: Mr Mogi? Patrick McNicholas: Bingo! You use the eye test, just like everyone else, that's great. But, and this is said half in jest, half seriously, if you cannot see the answer you're looking for in a post about Pozzo and his guest which is clearly just below the question you want the answer to then I suggest your eyes aren't as good as you think they are
Just not able to be an effective target man up front on his own. If we're not going to play him as part of a little and large pair there's almost no point in him starting games.
My eyes tell me our Xg for and Xg against is both higher than average for the league. Hence why doom mongering says we look rubbish a lot, but the clappers say we're ok jack.
Healey runs like he doesn't trust his knees and Sierralta showed why he was behind Porteous in the pecking order.
Our defensive record has been worse since Hamer came in, would be even worse if he didn't pull off worldy saves on a regular basis!
Would be interesting to see him in a two, but having seen a fair bit of him now I’m not sure what he’s actually good at.
Of course they're not the be all and end all and as mentioned, I've watched all but one game this season so I'm not being swayed in any direction by stats. I'm very tolerant of people's opinions (otherwise I'd get in many many arguments on here!), its just jarring when someone decides something at the start of the season and refuses to budge from that original opinion despite all evidence pointing to the contrary.
Looking at this thread there are plenty of fans who thought he was less than "good". I know you're desperate to get one back at me, but that's not it. But you imagining in advance that my reply would be "abusive" is unjustified petty bitterness on your part.
