Cash plus Gray deal to be offered. Here’s the article https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...&utm_source=Twitter&__twitter_impression=true Here’s the tweet https://mobile.twitter.com/TheSunFootball/status/1416497081464786947 Blackburn value him at £25mil. He’s in the last year of his contract so no chance are they getting that. Would take him for £10-15mil, throw in Gray, Hungbo and TDB.
Difficult to see how a 29 year old on 70k p.w, who can’t control the ball, would reduce Blackburn’s asking price
Proven Champo striker!!! Anyway, I think that this would not be a good move if true. We should be strengthening the defense, not signing an unproven Champo striker for 25mil + a load of excellent young talent. They can have Andre though.
Twenty five million ? Twenty five million. Maybe five at the most would be a reasonable valuation. Have to get rid of Gray somehow. Would be better off with Brereton.
If this story is really true and we are preparing a cash plus player deal, why not try the same for Danjuma? Not saying they’d take Gray but he’d surely be cheaper than £25 million.
An article in the Athletic this morning about Championship finances reckons bottom half clubs are offering about £10,000pw wages at the moment. That alone shows the difficult task we face shifting Andre.
It was Villarreal who offered that. But I think if Bournemouth’s asking price is 3x that, then we can safely say he’s going nowhere this summer. Although I can’t believe Bournemouth aren’t actively cutting costs. Unless they are gambling the whole club on another tilt at the PL and to hell with the finances. But I would also rather we tried for Danjuma over Armstrong personally.
Looking at our business done so far and the interview from Giarrelta, I’d say this is a made up story. Maybe agent trying to stir up business?
I'd be happy to offer them, Gray; Deeney & or Success or Perica, as we don't want any of them here. I'd even be willing to subsidise part of their wages as well to get them out of our club.
If Southampton and Newcastle are interested then he won't be coming to us. We only do out of contract or derisory offers.
We had one of the best defences in championship history, relatively speaking our forward line is abysmal by comparison and has been in chronic need of addressing for several seasons now.
I like Armstrong - i watched 3 or 4 times last season and he reminded me a bit of Jamie Vardy ….. clearly not as good …..but he is quick and mixes his game up well playing off the shoulder of the last defender quite a lot but also coming short and his link up play was good. He always looked a threat. I think in a better team he would be good. Can’t see us buying him though at that price.
Blackburn clearly aren’t getting £25m for him in this market. They don’t have much leverage as they’ll lose him for free next year if they don’t sell. They’ll do very well to get £15m or something akin to that value. I saw some asking why we don’t do something similar with Danjuma. No contract issue for Muff but it’s been reported they’re holding out for £20m for him. I reckon in the end someone offers that or very close to that as a) there’s no contract issue and b) there’s a much wider market for Danjuma given his status as a Dutch international and familiarity to teams in France, Germany, Netherlands etc.
Why? He’s played about 3 games of professional football in his career. At this stage he’s just a decent youngster, nothing more. If we had to lose him to secure a striker who could get us a good amount of goals next season, I wouldn’t give it a second thought.
But the club could argue they have addressed it by signing Dennis and Fletcher to supplement a maturing prospect in Joao Pedro. For a side that plays with a single striker, they may well feel they have sufficient options. But our CB unit is very poor in terms of depth of quality.
I like the idea of TDB a lot but the amount of hype he gets from the fan base on the back of a decent 25 mins or so at Reading is really odd.
