In all seriousness, if Liverpool sent him here, I suspect it would be because he can play in a variety of position and not just RW - as I’m sure they know he wouldn’t get game time if he is just wedded to that one position. And if he can only play in that position, then I expect they would send him elsewhere to get another season of regular football, probably in the Championship again. Or maybe Norwich look at him as a replacement for Buendia and pocket the money again.
We definitely need a decent, goal scoring backup who can play on the right, and a loanee is probably the right way to go. He looked a good player (from the little I saw of him) and his adaptability is an asset. Currently, if Sarr gets injured, we’re basically already relegated.
But I doubt Liverpool want him to be a backup. That’s the point really. I suspect PZ will be seen as the backup even if some don’t think he’s capable.
He does indeed look like a proper scrote. That would make sense for them actually, quite similar players. I think Elliott is slightly better than PZ, he could also take his spot as our starting attacking midfielder.
Without re-hashing the PZ debate, I do think it would be a bit of a kick in the teeth to a player you just signed on a 5 year deal to bring in a young loan player to play ahead of them. There are certainly question marks over him, but he at least deserves have a proper pre season before he is replaced.
We have high hopes for Zinckernagel. He won’t be replaced. Whether he fits here more than Udinese is another matter.
Elliott seems to have been linked with just about everybody in the last 24 hours. Us, Norwich, Brentford,Palace, even another spell at Blackburn. Plus staying at Liverpool. He’s a smashing player and I’d love him to play for us next season, but there’s also a tiny part of me that doesn’t care much for loaning in players from other clubs in our division. That’s just my, probably slightly old-fashioned, viewpoint.
No problem with us loaning players provided they improve us. Don't want another Garner where we are just developing someone elses player
In Prem seasons gone by, I usually wouldn't have been keen to loan some big club's player, but we don't have as much money as we have had in the past, so I'd be fine with bringing in Elliott on loan
Probably not but if there is some kind of agreement that they get first option on Sarr next Summer it could work.
I couldn't care less about that to be honest. I just want someone who is a decent improvement on what we have. Signings like Garner I have an issue with where they aren't even better than what we have, and we are just developing another clubs talent to our own detriment.
Well I suppose you can never tell how loan players are going to work out, Chalobah was a literal kid when he came here first and he ended up being a roaring success. I'm not quite sure how Elliott would fit in our side (on the left? On the right as rotation and when Sarr is in Africa? Down the middle?), and he's basically just had one good year in the Championship, but he's far more talented than Ken Sema so I'd be willing to take the risk
This feels akin to impoverished African nations accepting investment from China and being in their pocket forever. It’s a no from me.
Not just impoverished African nations falling foul of the belt-and-road bait-and-switch - Montenegro for one have managed to manoeuvre themselves into a very slippery situation with a mountain highway that is basically non-existent and now sees them on the hook to the CCP for literally billions* - it's fascinating how much China are ******* around all across the globe - I get a weekly e-mail on the subject from Coda, actually. Seems odd, but as I said, also fascinating! (*disclaimer - it's a single billion)
Looks to have some great skills so could be an asset to the squad. His personal styling is a different matter, he normally looks a complete (short for) Richard.
If we sign him and his squad number is single digits he'll save me a fiver at the club shop on printing seeing as my son Elliott is 10. Instant hero for me if he's our new (low number) signing.
He doesn't really play on the left, he'd either be instead of Zinc and Gosling, and/or backup for Sarr.
I’m not sure why anyone thinks Liverpool would send him here as backup? He’d learn more at Liverpool from better players and a better manager being on their bench rather than ours. Young players are loaned out for game time and game time only, it’s not like it’s a question of getting their wages off the books.
We’ve got Gashley Fletcher , gonna sign Gashley Young . Maybe Mike Gashley will buy us with the change left over from selling The Geordies to another set of global criminals .
You only need to look at how easily the WHO was turned into a mouthpiece for China to realise the rest of the world doesnt have the capacity to comprehend the ways in which China is slowly but surely taking over. It would take a huge extremely well managed global coalition of NAFTA EU ASEAN Japan and India to push back effectively. It probably wont happen.
