Sounds OK, but as said above he surely would not want to be a backup, so what could this mean for Sarr, is he on his way out?

Gentle reminder that footballers are capable of playing in more than one position.

Not a very exciting rumour. More South Americans with YT videos and spider web stats explosions please.

And Elliot can as he can also play on the left wing and attacking midfield.

As I suggested in the original post. when I said "he plays predominantly on the right".

Players are capable of playing in other positions, but the majority of them prefer one side or the other. It seems odd to bring in a player who has spent most of his career playing on the right with the intention of playing him on the left.

Let's just move Sarr to the left to accommodate a Liverpool loanee, so we can help his development as much as possible. Job done!

He’s not quick quick, so his style of play should easily be adaptable to the left. Either way I’d love this

Anything but Sarr Off, he must stay! he is our current:
    one glimmer!
    one class player!
one player able to turn a game in a split second!
one player a cut above the rest!
one player we need to KEEP!

He’s not quick so he should be equally slow on either flank?

Suppose the big issue is that Liverpool tend to put in punitive clauses in their loan deals demanding players play.

Good point, let's move Sierralta in to central midfield and swap round Masina and Femenia while we're at it. Our Premier League status will surely be secured!

Then, when Sarr’s value is depressed because of a sub-standard season, we can be grateful when the mighty Liverpool offer us £20m to take him off our hands.

Left footed as well. Would be great cover for Sarr on the RW. Wouldn’t mind him coming off the bench at all. Would presume that if this is true, (doubtful) then PZ7 will move to more a CAM role than be cover for Sarr on the RW.

Sarr to Liverpool then and Elliott as a sweetener? Depending on how much we get and what we then spend it on would determine if this was a good deal or not (obviously)

Sarr won’t be going to Liverpool. Or anywhere.

Liverpool won’t be signing any players who will be at AFCON - certain of that, they won’t want another season like the one just ended. And seeing Sarr, Salah, Mane and Keita disappear for a month would almost guarantee that.

I don't think Sarr is going to Liverpool, I don't think they'd pay £40m for a backup who will be off to the AFCON with Mane and Salah

Elliott has played a fair few times on the left hasn't he? What about Sarr, has he played on the left for us, Senegal or in France?

He started twice on the left for Blackburn, and 24 times on the right. It's basically the same number. I'm amazed they even bothered playing him on the right at all.

Yes Sarr has played basically every single game for us and Senegal as a left-winger. You might be labouring under a misapprehension that he plays on the right, probably due to some rare eye defect which inverts your field of vision.

So not to worry, we definitely wouldn't have to move our to record signing away from their best position to accommodate Elliott.

His record isn't bad there, but it's all pretty piecemeal and I really wouldn't see the point in fielding our most valuable asset and best player in a position he is far less familiar with, and I wouldn't say particularly makes the best use out of the attributes he possesses, just to allow a loanee from Liverpool to play exactly where he theoretically wants to for a season.

He competed in professional showjumping, and in professional wrestling. I bet there's not many people you can say that about.

Basically great going forward, creates a lot of goal scoring opportunities, creates space, but rubbish defensively.

The simple answer if Elliot comes to us on loan is for him to inter change with Sarr throughout matches as apparently Elliot can play on the left as well as on the right. And from what I saw of Sarr on the left in his international match for Senegal last night he looks perfectly at home playing on the left and we already know he is good on the right.

Wouldn’t be a bad thing at all having two wingers that are perfectly interchangeable in a game.

I don’t think for one second this kid is just going to waltz into starting every single PL game for a club on the back of a good season in the Championship, but given the financial situation, I’m not adverse to a couple of astute loan signings this summer. Harvey Elliott is certainly one of the better prospects going in that regard.

I could see it as a sweetener for a player exchange at the end of next season. My only concern is his defensive abilities, yes going forward he looks the part but we need our wideman helping out at the back too.

Is too late to transition Big Boy from forward to defender? He is shot as a goal scorer, we all know that - but in our box he actually defend pretty well at times. Maybe a possibility, if this is to be
his final season. Elliot looks decent, Blackburn certainly rated him, but would he rather go to Brentford? I guess it depends on him and the terms. Hopefully Gino can sweeten the deal and chuck one
of our duds in for balance.

I think he'd be more capable as a #10 than as a left-winger, and perhaps it might make more sense in the PL than him even playing right-wing again. We could shift him there in a similar way to how we did with Zinckernagel in light of both of their lack of defensive qualities. In the video below he still shows plenty of aptitude for playmaking and goalscoring from a more central position e.g. his goal at 3:50 and two passes from 4:06; also again at 7:30.

He'd be a similar player in there to how Pereira plays for WBA. He takes set-pieces as well, which is another bonus - though I'm not entirely sure how successful he is at them?

We'd still need two defensively solid midfielders behind him there though.
