Is it a prediction though? Setting out the probabilities of something happening is obviously only as good as the human who creates the model and puts the data in but, that aside, it's essentially neutral. For what it's worth I reckon that 4% was on the low side but then even up until full time in the Norwich match there was an easily believable version of events that would have lead to Brentford overtaking us.
Most of us didn’t think we’d even make the playoffs back then, so it was still more accurate than humans.
I'm not sure it was most of us, but certainly at lot of us didn't. The inconsistent form of the teams below 6th at the time meant that a play off place was still very possible, if not probable.
You cant trust those sort of figures. Which is why I think we need at least a point in this game to be sure.
Regarding prediction data , they probably get their info from Ladbrokes . I.E. what odds were Brentford for automatics and what were ours back then ?
in with MD on this one, at no point did I think we wouldn’t make the playoffs. I thought we were simply too good to not get in there and that we would get the required wins. however I definitely didn’t think we would be able to put together the winning run that they did. It was akin to the run that Joka managed to get us to go on and seemingly came out of nowhere. we now know of course about the players meeting and change in formation that allowed us to push on. I didn’t particularly fancy us in the playoffs but i always thought we would make it.
Nil nil draw. We laugh at the best team in the league as they huff and puff their way to another play off bottle job while we ride off into the Premier sunset to milk the cash cow that is the EPL.
Yeah, makes it all the more sweeter that their fans thought the league was over in February. Giving it the big one etc. Then the desperate replies of “they still have Norwich, Millwall, us and Swansea to play, they won’t beat Norwich.” Followed by, “playoffs it is then.” Hahahaha.
Apologies for the most ungrammatical post I have ever made on here - shows what happens when you try to post using a mobile when just woken up and not wearing glasses...
Remember when Tommy Smith played for them and a bunch of us used to go on their local rag's site and rate him a 10 after every game? Good times, good times. Was beyond hilarious watching the articles try and justify why Tommy was the Brentford fans' MOTM every week.
I never doubted we would finish in top 4. We had a bigger squad, was allowed to use 5 substitutions and had 3 ex England Internationals in our squad plus a wealth of higher level experience. I knew as more teams hit beach we would win more. I also kept a spreadsheet all season at no point game 1 to 44 did we track below a play off place. We played slow and did bare minimum at start of season keeping heads above water. Knowning that after Christmas we would break from the pack and aim for the finishing line. Our fixtures were great mostly playing before Brentford and also having a massive run without any top 6 to play. That point at Coventry as i wrote at time turned out to be vital without it we would still be suffering nerves about this next game.
Yep. No chance of anything other than a loss based on weekend celebrations. Give some of the young-uns a match. Foster Holebas Prodl Mariappa Cassetti Toszer Munari Eustace Mcnamee Young Iwelumo
And gave a certain player 0 each week. Which backfired after he started turning out 0 rated performances for us.
We’ve got this, points deduction for an epic brawl after Toney tells “sierra-alta” (sic - mooney) that his manbun is ridiculous.
