No doubt Sarr will get the glamour vote, but for me it’s Kiko Femenia, just pipping Hughes as our most influential player.
Keeping up your run of being wrong about absolutely everything, he was great tonight. As for POTS - Kiko for me, followed by Sarr, Hughes, Sierralta.
I thought he was really good again tonight, and dare I say it, apart from goals he does everything that Capoue did but better and he's still only 25!
I hope Kiko gets it. Consistently putting in top performances all season, even in the hellish Ivic days. I doubt there's been a better fullback in the league.
Kiko is like a mirage to most other championship teams, an exotic fantasy. They're used to fullbacks called Barry and Nigel.
Has to be Femenia. At worst has been a 6/10 player but normally a 7-8/10 most weeks during nearly the whole Season, keeping Ngakia out the team who most other teams he would be starting for. Honourable mentions for Sarr, Chalobah and Sierralta in no particular order.
I also vote for Femenia, due to his consistency over the greater number of games, ahead of such as Sarr, Sierralta and Chalobah. However it’s clear that our season changed when Hughes returned in the 4-3-3.
We have as many as 4 or 5 players vying for POS, but over the whole season it has to be Kiko for me, as he has been Mr Consistent. As for 2nd & 3rd it's between: - Sarr, Serrialta, Hughes & Chalobah with even Masina putting in a late outside bid IMO. To be Young POS what is the oldest they can be? Because at the moment Pedro is the only player in with a chance for YPOS unless any of the other aforementioned players are young enough?
For the league-wide awards it's that they have to be under 23 at the start of the season, which would make Sarr eligible. Not sure if Watford apply the same criterion though...
Thanks SLB, strangely enough if Sarr is eligible it will still be a toss up as to whether Pedro or Sarr win it IMO. It's a close call if you think about it over the whole season, but on recent and probably overall form it would probably have to go to Sarr.
Saar was pants under ivic but had been great recently, Pedro has been more consistent one the whole season but gone right off the boil in the last few games. I think you can forgive Saar being crap under ivic for obvious reasons so for me Saar would edge it over Pedro.
Has to be Kiko, done a job wherever, whenever for us this season. Would probably be Sierralta had he started to play for us earlier having said that, but a wonderful problem to have!
This talk of Sarr and Pedro in the youth category reminds me of the really very amusing time back in 2013 when Vydra was nominated for both 'EFL Young player of the Year' and 'Championship Player of the Year' and he ended up winning overall Championship Player of the Year whilst Tom Ince won Young Player, despite being a year older than Vydra. Definitely tickled me at the time, at least... Oh, yeah, and to echo majority sentiment here - Sierralta and Hughes have been, if anything, more impactful, but for both his longevity and consistency, as well as the fact that he clearly could have been one of the first names banging on his cell door looking for an exit in the summer but chose never to muddy himself with any of it - Kiko.
Kiko mainly because he's performed all season. If it was a half season award then undoubtedly Sierralta.
True, but I remember all the seasons the award was won by defenders and goalkeepers during the time Luther and John Barnes were at the club. Watford fans value consistency.
