It's Sarr. The single biggest reason we got promoted. Others have had excellent seasons but he's been the difference when it mattered at the end of the season.
Sierralta. Started the season as 5th choice centre-back. Then got his chance and grabbed it with both hands. Our promotion season was based on our solid backline and he more than anybody was responsible for that. Honourable mentions for Sarr for his brilliance in the run-in, Femenia for his all season consistency, and I’d like to mention Cleverley too for being a great seasoned pro who I’m sure played a big part in stabilising the team in the early days of the season and grabbing a few important goals too.
Sarr has grabbed all the headlines and has had a brilliant season, Cleverly has been an inspiration and has also had a great season, Sierralta has been a revelation and been a rock at the back, Hughes & Chalobah have also had awesome seasons, but have grown into it rather than been consistently top draw. In another season all of them might have won POTS, however although they have all been brilliant at times I have to stick with KIKO as he has been Mr Consistent throughout the whole season.... KIKO FOR PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Kiko Sarr Cleverley Sierralta Out of the 4 above for me. An argument can be made for either of them, so whoever wins it out of those four, it’s deserved.
Apparently Sarr qualifies for YPOT, so although Pedro has also been great too, he has done a bit of a Richarlison and faded away towards the end of the season, therefore if he qualifies it is a no brainer IMO.... SARR HAS TO BE MY YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON
I agree that it's basically between those 4. My vote is going to Sarr because ultimately his goals have been so vital to us getting the automatic spot.
It has to be Sarr. He isn't the "glamour" vote as someone said, it is that he has been the most influential and decisive in getting our results. Considering his youth and inexperience, he deserves huge credit for knuckling down and really battling all over the pitch. A close second place, is Sieralta, who has been brilliant and the main reason why we have had 21 clean sheets this season. He has been close to faultless in doing what a centre back has to do. Third is Kiko, fourth is Bachman who has been really solid and dependable.
Hughes has to be on that shortlist. Playing him in his correct position in the 4-3-3 was like flicking a switch for the team this season.
I'm not convinced it wasn't in part coincidence - Hughes came in to the side at the same time as Deeney left it and the attitude of the whole team shifted. He missed most of the start of the season, and has been one of our poorest performers in the last few key games.
I voted Femenia for being consistently good and so much better than last year, but we wouldn’t have finished 2nd without Sarr or Hughes.
I’d quietly let Kiko know he’s the deserving winner... ...and then give it to Sarr hoping that giving him a shiny POTS trophy will be an extra little incentive to keep him around for another year. Reward Sierralta, Chalobah and Hughes with new deals and pay rises.
I rate Hughes as a player - but he does have the odd poor/quiet performance which rarely gets called out. I see the vast improvement from Chalobah since Christmas as a bigger factor in our performances than much of what Hughes has done.
Sarr has been great for us, but Kiko has been outstanding all season, so lets not let the man who has been attracting all the headlines from the media etc and hence gets most of the spotlight influence those of us who know better us the Watford fans. By the way I think Sarr is eligible for young player of the year, so why not give him that as Pedro, the only other real candidate, although again great has not quite done a s well as Sarr.
Deeney. Scoring all those pens after having the one against Spurs saved which would have kept us up. Top trolling.
Seriously, for me it was Kiko up until the last few games. Then Sarr showed how desperate he is to drag us back up and scored crucial goals. Now I'm not sure who to back for this.
I voted Sarr because of the threat and the fact that he has been more threatening as the season has evolved. Credit should go to Disco for,id not putting a smile on his face then removing the scowl he had under Ivic. TBFC second.
Kiko was fantastic. Sierralta and Hughes were crucial in the 2nd half of the season and either may have won if they had been fit all season. But without Sarr we would be nowhere. Our whole attack relies on him and without his goals, assists and penalties won we may not have reached double figures for goals scored all season.
Sarr has won games for us singlehandedly. His defensive duties have improved and has made Kiko look absolute class too.
I'm think even Sarr would not want us to pick him ahead of Kiko, so come on guys don't be dazzled by "The Headlines" you know that Kiko deserves it, and I might even put Sierralta ahead of Sarr too, but that is a much closer run thing IMO.
Pretty sure people are capable of making their own minds up! And those of us voting Sarr aren't doing it because we've read some headlines, it's because we've watched every game this season and he is the one irreplaceable player without whom we wouldn't be going up.
Kiko for PotS. (Close call between him and Sarr but Kiko pips it, been consistent 8 out of 10 all season. Special mentions to Cleverley and Sierralta also.) Masina v Cardiff for GotS. (Simply because I haven't celebrated goal like that in a long time!)
Sarr POTS - as others have said, it's unlikely we'd have been promoted without him. I'm not sure you can say that about the other contenders, good as they were. and JP's goal at Derby - IMO the only genuine worldy we scored this season
Sarr player of the season : he was largely the magic dust that made the difference. Even in the first half of the season he showed moments of quality that won matches. Jao Pedro goal Of the season for pure technique required .
There are many deserving cases but this is Player of the Season, no ifs, buts or maybes. The player chosen should be the player who has delivered the most and made the biggest difference to the team throughout the whole season. That man is Ismaila Sarr. OK I'm not into stats but even I know Sarr scored the most goals. Someone help me out here but I'm going to hazard a guess that he contributed the most assists (or very nearly), had the most minutes on the pitch (or very nearly), ran the most metres or km (or very nearly) and was the most fouled player (or very nearly). He also did a lot of unselfish and effective defensive work off the ball. My honourable mentions go to Troost-Ekong (true unselfish leader), Tom Cleverley (leader by example), Sierralta (the rock we needed) and Kiko Femenia (gives everything for the team).
I have voted for Kiko as player of the Season as he has been the most consistent throughout THE WHOLE season. My 2nd spot goes to Sarr for his shear brilliance and had he played the same throughout the whole season he might have pipped Kiko. My 3rd spot has been a bit more difficult as it has been a close thing, between, Chalobah, Cleverly, Hughes and the man I have chosen Sierralta, who might have been in contention for 1st place had he played the whole season. My Goal of the Season is Chalobah's goal (Goal E) against Cardiff, as he created his chance out of nothing with his quick feet movement and finished it brilliantly. My 2nd choice goes to Pedro for Goal A, and my 3rd to Sarr for Goal I.
