OPPOSITION FAN FORUM: https://bournemouth-forum.vitalfootball.co.uk/forums/upthecherries-forum.7/ Some Brief Story So Far Eddie Howe is known and will be known as a south coast god. A bit like Watford fans consider the late great Graham Taylor. He dragged Bournemouth from the drudges of what was then National Football League Two up to the dizzy heights of Premiership mid table. Relegated at the end of last season. Saint Howe resigned his post due to a rumored fall out with players, or being unable to motivate them (sounds familiar doesn't it?). Jason Tindall was promptly promoted from N0. 2 to the coach role and after a fairly steady start - was soon shown the door despite just about keeping the cherries in the playoff positions. Johnathan Woodgate has taken temporary(?) charge as it stands, and has resided over two defeats, a draw and two wins against relegation fodder Rotherham and Birmingham respectively. We Seem a Little Like Yin and Yang Bournemouth have become a sort of fan rival side in respect to sections of both supporters. I can understand the reasons. We went up together, we went down together (in a non-sexual way!!), we have a similar fan base and we always seem to be around each other in the table whatever league we are both in. Watford supporters who are in this bracket sight them beating us to the Championship title, Bournemouth fans' still feel bitter over our 6-1 smashing of them at the Vic. There always seems to be a little bit of extra spice on the pitch even from the players too. A rivalry will never blossom - we have Scum Town, they have Southampton and Portsmouth. What Happened Last Time We lead early in the game due to Perica's close range finish from Sarr's low cross. After cheating and diving, hacking our players down and lucky to have eleven on the pitch, they equalized in the dying seconds (95th minute) to get a very undeserved draw. Another reason for the hatred perhaps. Who Stands Out For Them Jack Wilkshire, Steve Cook, Shane Long and Dominic Solanke. These appear to be their most dangerous players and could cause problems. They used to have Phil Foden, who now plays for Manchester City and has excelled. Dan Sturridge is another young player who looks pretty decent, works hard but his hard work never gets rewarded with a start. Form vs Form Despite both sides being in and around the top six for almost all the season, both teams have had sloppy spells and good spells. We have both gone through at least two managers, and we are currently on our best run of the season. Bournemouth are going through one of their worst so far. Since changing our formation to 4 3 3, with Pedro up top, Sarr and Sema bombing down the wings, Hughes playing in his natural position in the centre, Kiko being PotS, and Senaltra continuing to be a new player of sorts, it makes total sense that our form has drastically improved. With Tweedle Dee and Dumb out of the side, the shackles are off and Watford are playing like we knew they can. Bounemouth have some good players, but in contrast to how we felt, their fans' seem to feel at the moment their players' are not playing for the manager. A system that is hindering what they can do, a lot of dropped heads each game. Currently sitting just outside of the playoffs due to a Cardiff side in sublime form, they are looking in a downward spiral and need things to change. Some Architecture Bournemouth Town Hall Winter Gardens Beach Personal Prediction I feel if we continue our good form of attacking on the front foot away from home, but learn from some of the school boy errors of last night (first goal especially), we can get something here and continue their downfall of form at this moment in time. We have to keep up with Swansea and Brentford, and having the early kick off we can go second even if we draw. But I feel confidence will be a huge factor here. Bournemouth 1 Watford 2
Bournemouth as a town is a little on the shabby side, but the beach is excellent, particularly as you walk along towards Boscombe. One of the only enjoyable things I did in 2020 was walk the whole length of the beach in the Summer. Plenty of kiosks on the way you can stop for a pint of beer or whatever takes your fancy. You can also loudly mouth your disdain for AFC Bournemouth as no one there supports them. Bournemouth appointing Woodgate as permanent manager is as baffling as it is amusing. Tommy Mooney described it in commentary as a great appointment... for Bournemouth's rivals. Woodgate is inept. For that reason I am far more confident about this game than I thought I would be a few weeks ago. It was believed Tindall was the Archdaemon of Cheating, so will be interesting to see if they have moved away from their famed deceitful ways. If they have, their only path to success will be gone forever and we can expect them to shrink back to League Two where they belong. Prediction AFC Cheatertons of Cheatsville FC 0-11 Watford Sarr (12), Joao Pedro (22), Sema (26), Hughes (32), Cleverley (42), Chalobah (45+1), Femenia (55), Sierralta (61), Cathcart (72), Masina (85), Bachmann (90+2)
Good preview Skyla, looking forward to the Twitter Derby. It will be a tough game with both teams to score I reckon. Hopefully we have enough left in the tank to beat them.
We're going to turn on the style Saturday. Keep up with the same passion, effort and flair upfront and it will be a walk in the park. No better time to play Muff.
Everything suggests that this will be a win. So we won't. It's time we dropped points just when we need them to keep automatic an option. Muff have a habit of screwing things up for us. I expect the worst, a red card and probably an injury. If we walk away with a fully available team for the next match then I'll take that as a bonus. If we nick a point as well I may crack open a beer. I've added a Graham.
To say we have a similar fan base with Bournemouth is incorrect and insulting. We have been and always will be a bigger club with more than double their fan base. Historically they are minnows and their fans have always run away. Apart from those important facts, well done Rose!
Throughout our entire league history, we have only been a league below Muff in 2 seasons, they were the two years after Division 3 south was split into Divisions 3 & 4.
It'll be a draw, it's always a draw against these ****s with the occasional demolition thrown in. My apologies, it's always a draw against this fine club who I have total respect and admiration for.
It's a social media led rivalry pure and simple. Portsmouth and Southampton couldn't give a flying about them. So there is a desperate need for them to create something the funniest thing is loads of the younger Watford fans take the bait. We have only one rival. Even though I do have absolutely no time or patience for Palace.
We haven't one three in a row away from home since 1592. AFCB 2-4 WFC (Bournemouth 2 dodgy pens; Watford 4 direct free kicks)
Muff fans write up of yesterdays game gives me even more confidence. Tonight I decided I can’t be bothered to put in the usual effort. Although I still put in a great deal more than the players. -We are ****. The formation was ****. Woodgate is ****. -Lots of sideways passing -Never looked like getting anywhere with it -Cardiff are an actual football team -Their players run around a lot and actually seem to care about the outcome of the game -We decide not to mark a six-foot-five tall guy from a corner. Astonishingly this backfired on us -We give Kiefer Moore acres of space on the edge of the six-yard box. Begovic makes a great save with his feet, somehow keeps us in it -Rico clearly felt bad for Kiefer, so gives away a stupid penalty. Look at the reaction of our players. -Moore scores penalty -Surridge misses a sitter. -half time -switch to 442. Marginal improvement. -Smith cut back to Stanislas. Headed for the bottom corner but great save by Phillips -Stanislas free-kick 25 yards out, headed for the top corner. Another great save by Phillips. -breakaway, Stanislas plays in Danjuma. Deflected cross-shot drops invitingly for Long. Free header into an empty net. Can we force an equaliser? -no -full time Player ratings Begovic- 6 made one great save Smith- 3 anonymous Cook- 5 couldn’t organise a **** up in a brewery CCV- 6 our most likeable player is on loan and has played about five games for us. That says it all. Kelly- 3 meh Rico- 0 please just leave Lerma- 3 passing conference standard at best L Cook- 1 looked back at the lineups and astounded to discover that he actually played. Gets 1 mark due to the fact that he isn’t Diego Rico. Billing- 3 in a team of players that don’t care, watching this guy strut around makes the other 10 look like Roy Keane Stanislas- 5 did okay I guess Surridge- 2 I want to say anonymous but I feel like that doesn’t do it justice Long- 5 shown he can score from one yard. This instantly makes him one of our better players. Danjuma- 3 occasionally beats a man. Always poor end product Woodgate and the board- -100 after watching that and seeing the line up there are only two possibilities: -Woodgate has been asked to make sure he does everything in his power that we stay a championship club. -Woodgate and the board are a bunch of absolutely clueless half-wits. the end
I'm sure Kelly will be trying to cripple Sarr in the first few minutes again. Hopefully we'll have a ref with some balls this time.
I'm going to recreate the Bournemouth away atmosphere by letting off a couple of flares in the garden and shouting abuse at my elderly, confused neighbour all afternoon. Bring it on!!!
I've always felt that had Angela not been sent off against them for what was a dive and penalty in the opening minutes at home in 14/15 they wouldn't have won that game and thus wouldn't have pipped us to the title. That's the one that always stuck in my craw.
Don't care about Bournemouth anymore than any other team in the league apart from the scum. Their form is not good but ours is excellent but they certainly have decent players. Is Brooks still there as notice he didn't play last night. Wilshere? Injured? We had a long trip this week and played on an energy sapping trip so might make a change or two. Zinc for Sema and Cathcart or anybody for WTE. No game is a given in this league but if we continue to play like we have recently and show the energy and togetherness then we should win. The others in top 4 all have very winnable games so it's important to keep this run going although a point won't be the end of the world
Put Troy on the bench. Send him down to warm up on the sidelines (walking boot and all) at the start of the match. The first person that attempts to mangle Sarr gets a Glasgow kiss and tossed about 4 rows into the stands. Troy gets a 4 match ban. Bring him back before he's really ready to play, burn the four match ban whilst he's really still rehabbing. Chances are , he retires to become a pundit anyway. Problem solved.
Please do, at least I'll find out if you are the noisy **** next door. Confused, cheeky ****, you may not have noticed but I only look that way when you are around, every time I wonder how you managed to get through life thus far! Sooner you move the better, ****! PS If you are not my neighbour, apologies, however, this is probably what your actual neighbour will be thinking.
We are on a roll. 12 pointer. Must win game. BMuff 3 (Wilshere 3) WFC 0 (Deeney missed pen, Gosling sent off)
On paper, the perfect time to play Bournemouth away. In reality, it is Bournemouth vs Watford, the "sure thing" draw of the season.
Bournemouth are proper SHYTE, another easy win. Bournemouth 0-5 Watford. Just a real shame we can't be there to laugh at their fans. HMS sneak into the autos is ready to be boarded.
Bournemouth have hired hard man Joe Jordan to help Woodgate out. Fully expect some heated challenges. The ref needs to protect our players. Something I hope Xisco brings up in his press conference. Just remind the ref how dirty they are.
Stopped reading as soon as I saw the great GT and the odious terd howe written in the same paragraph. And now you've made me do the same thing to moan about it. FFS.
David Brooks out injured for this one and, even better, Steve Cook passed fit Would be massive if we can win here, as Norwich and Brentford play each other in the round of games after this one, whilst we have Wycombe at home I suspect we will draw or lose however, as more often than not, Bournemouth always seem to find a way to **** us over
I find the Joe Jordan appointment odd, Woodgate was a crap assistant hired to work under a crap assistant turned manager, now they’ve hired another crap assistant to work under the crap assistant to the crap assistant turned manager.
